Publisher's summary

"If The Celestine Prophecy and The Devil Wears Prada had a love child, that's The Hand Dealt - an experience of deep mysticism in the most gorgeous Louboutin heels."

The stunning first book of the series The Tarot Legacies.

A chance encounter convinces Vesta that she can find the way to reincarnate in her next life as herself to preserve the power and wealth she has worked so hard to create. But a tarot reading turns her world upside down, sending her on a desperate journey to prevent a tragedy. While a vicious enemy hiding in plain sight is determined to stop her from discovering the life-changing truth about herself and the world.

Mystery, mysticism, and murder weave a spell-binding tale introducing unforgettable characters, legendary locations, and fashion to die for in The Hand Dealt.

The series continues with Book Two, The Wild Card; Book Three, The Red King; and Book Four, The Seven Pentacles Prophecy.

Give this one a chance!

I am so glad I stuck with this. I found the main character so unlikeable, I kept thinking she’d get herself together in the next sentence, paragraph, oh come on, chapter? I would normally have quit pretty early in, but this author and I have had a few brief contacts in email and I felt like I had a small connection to her which made me want to try just a little harder, a little longer. That turned out to be a good decision!

I feel like this takes awhile to pick up, but it IS worth sticking with!

I wasn’t 100% won over by the narrator, but I don’t feel she damaged or ruined the book or characters. She actually grew on me as Vesta’s (spelling? I’m listening; not looking at print version) voice.

I received a free copy of this book.

......Possible SPOILER.....
SPOILER ALERT
I feel like this is the “establishment” book that so many good series have, the one where you get to know a TON of stuff you’ll need going forward. Those usually frustrate me, but once I finished I could see that it is necessary because... the ending is suddenly like a jolt of action and zoom, we’re off. I feel like we’re gonna hit the ground running in book 2. Explaining a lot that this book would interrupt the flow. I can tell that she’s going to be a much “better”—and thus more likeable—person going forward.

A Handful if Delights

During a time when travel is curtailed, The Hand Dealt provided eight hours of grand locations, juicy plot and an insiders peak at high fashion and jet setting, amidst occult rituals. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
