Publisher's summary

She’s accidentally pregnant and someone is trying to kill her…and now her one-night-stand is her fierce protector.

Helicopter pilot Maggie Lopez is focused on building her helicopter and drone photography business - and she has the loans to prove it. She takes one night off to trade her jeans for a designer dress, and attend a fancy gala…and ends up spending a very steamy night with her panty-melting crush - Ace Oliveira. He’s tall, sexy, and the guru of all things tech at Norcross Security.

She wasn’t supposed to fall in lust, or fall in love, and she really wasn’t supposed to fall pregnant.

Ace Oliveira’s life is just how he likes it. After years protecting his country at the NSA, he now puts his special computer and hacking skills to good use at Norcross Security. He gets paid well. Has good friends. Enjoys the hell out of his carefree bachelor lifestyle. Relationships and kids are not on the cards for him - ever. He has his reasons.

But then feisty, saucy Maggie - who snuck out of his bed like a thief - drops a bombshell.

Before they can even process the surprise pregnancy, it becomes clear someone is trying to kill Maggie. A series of deadly accidents are all centered on her, and Ace will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. With the men of Norcross at his side, he’ll track down a killer, fight his own demons, and convince skittish, independent Maggie to fall in love with her baby’s daddy.

Keep them coming!

I am a big fan of this series and this book is wonderful. Ace and Maggie are great together and I loved to watch their relationship grow. I can’t wait to see more of them in the future.

Thank goodness for Gus!

Vanderbilt: “who the _ is the A hole that knocked her up?”
Ace : “that A hole would be me.”
This was pretty good for a romance that began with a one night stand and involves a pregnancy. The first half was a lot of fun as Ace and Maggie spread the news among their family, friends and with Norcross security. The second half involved an even more obvious than usual threat and a lot of pregnancy cravings/sickness.

Gus: “who’s the A hole that knocked you up?”
Ace: “that A hole would be me.”
My favorite character was Maggie’s mechanic, and lovable grump, Gus. He helped mix things up a little from the usual formula. This was critical because there’s a lot of repetition of Ace holding her on his lap, calling her his Kacheenya or proclaiming her as his woman.🙄 The usual popcorn plots of danger leading to her living at his place and her getting kidnapped by the bad guy are also present. And of course, there’s the part where she ogles his bare chest and he ogles her wearing his shirt… and then one unexpectedly meets the parents … or was that the previous book? Yes, certain formulas can be counted upon.
For me, however, it’s kind of fun to … wait for it … there it is, the scene where the Norcross Security men gear up to save the day.

One nagging nitpick: book 1 = white couple, book 2 = white couple, book 3 = white couple, book 4 = white couple, and here in book 5 = brown couple. The whole separate but equal thing is so last century.
Maybe it was unintentional, but pairing Portuguese Ace Olivera with Magdalena Lopez was disappointing, like supporting strong women was okay but heaven forbid we have an interracial romance.
And yes, book 6 = white couple, book 7 = white couple, and book 8 = white couple.

Very entertaining story

The characters in this book are great and the story has great suspense, action scenes, and a rocky romance that has a happy ending. I absolutely love the last action scene. The performance had some really good parts and some I didn't like. I don't care for the breathy, dramatic voice in parts.

I had been looking forward to this story since the beginning. Ace really interested me, and I wanted to know more about him; Maggie, as well. They really do make a good team.

This one wasn't so much a mystery as the others. The setup was blatant. It was just a matter of how it played out. Still entertaining.

Again, the narration was good. I wondered if Ace shouldn't have had an accent.

Suspense filled, action-packed and danger filled c

Ace and Maggie's story was an interesting mix...kind of secretly pining for each other to almost an enemies to lovers as they got off on the wrong foot in this book when the unexpected pregnancy bombshell causes Ace to briefly lose brain cells. But the working out their feelings gets supercharged when Maggie finds herself in danger and Ace of course becomes her protector. Suspense filled, action-packed and danger filled chapters later, they find their HEA. And of course the narration by Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton add that extra to it.

Pretty good

Probably one of my least favorite of her books. I thought the characters were good developed the narration was excellent they completely hit it out of the park. Stella Bloom & Teddy Hamilton were beyond good they definitely got into character for every scene I just thought like the beginning the first two hours were excellent but after that it just fell for me. I felt like this was the worst one out of the series and I have listen to all her books (I have all her books) this one I would definitely say I am on a cliff on keeping it or returning it.

Well Done!

4.5 stars

Maggie Lopez learns she is pregnant from a one-night stand with Ace Oliveira, a man she has been crushing on for a while. Unfortunately, he’s a player, and she knows this. She feels compelled to tell him about the baby, but figures he won’t want any part of it or her, once he learns about the pregnancy. His initial reaction goes as expected, but after he has time to think about things, he starts warming up to the idea. Especially after he learns that someone is targeting Maggie, and wants her dead. The team from Norcross Security is racing against time to try to figure out who is trying to kill Maggie and why, and to stop them before they succeed.

This story gives readers a look at some of the couples who have been featured in recent Norcross books. In that sense, it feels like visiting with old friends. However, that is just one part of the story. The bulk of the story gives readers insight into the family histories of both Ace and Maggie, and a window into the changes that occur within each protagonist as they come to accept that Maggie is pregnant, and that they are going to be parents. Add in the ever-present threat of death, and these two figure things out rather quickly! There is some family drama as well, which adds some texture to the story. This book is fast-paced until the end, when it goes into an intense ‘hyper-drive.' Nonetheless, the story is interesting and well-written. And Vander is next!!

These narrators are very good. They make this story easy to visualize as it unfolds. As an additional note, the recording quality is excellent and the story flows well, which is attributable to both the author and the narrators. There aren’t any sound flubs or mouth noises evident in the recording, which makes it wonderful to listen to and enjoy.

Great story and fantastic narration

I read the ebook first but then had to get the audiobook because Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators. Stella Bloom is also fantastic so the audiobook definitely doesn't disappoint and only elevates this story!!

This story is a fun ride! Maggie and Ace had to deal with someone stalking and trying to kill her. Ace, a hacker, was smart and tough and I really loved their interplay- playful but also a bit adversarial. Maggie was a strong female character and we got to see the rest of the Norcross crew, who are like friends now because I've been reading this series from the start. Can I saw how much I love Maggie's co-worker, Gus, as well? Grumpy people speak to me. :D Overall, a really exciting read (that scene in the helicopter- oh my goodness!) made my heart pound and the having the narrators play it out with their spectacular reading just totally made it more real in my mind.

The Hacker

I love Stella Bloom. She makes the male voices really and can switch seamlessly. I love this series and this story. Keep up the great work.
