Mike Harris, author of Sheep’s Clothing and Sheep’s Clothing: The Pack, invites you to listen to his Grimmoire. Six classic tales, twisted and distorted through the lens of his unique vision.

Two siblings, lost in the woods, are offered shelter by a peculiar host with a monstrous appetite. A visit to grandma's house comes to a grisly end. A young maiden makes a pact with a sinister imp. A boy leaves home to discover the true meaning of fear. These twisted fairytales and more await within the cursed bindings of The Grimmoire.

First off, I already loved the collection. I read it before the audiobook was published (Mike Harris is the man!). Second, BigBearAudio is amazing. Third, BigBearAudio narrating "Goldilocks" is pretty satisfying.

Dig into The Brother's Grimm's tales made even darker and nastier than ever before. These stories are told very much in the fashion and style of the original translated tales... just more in an extreme horror fashion. I can't wait for volume 2!

A gnarly extreme reinvisioning of the already Grimm tales

Has some good moments but overall is rather reliant on the gore and body fluids, althea inclusion of these elements made all the more jarring with the fairy tale like prose.

A grim fairy tale collection that takes well known stories and injects gorey twists. We've seen fairy tale twists endlessly but this is the first 'extreme horror' gore style approach I've run into. While these dark horror minded variants are devilishly over the top they sometimes destroy the natural irony well built into the original tale, feeling like it trades in a morale for splintering bones. The buildup in much of these is to tell the somewhat familiar tale then change the ending to something more splattery so often the pacing feels uneven with vanilla overly familiar setup punctuated by an in your face shock. It doesn't feel like there are enough changes to the source and sometimes the vile twists don't quite make sense other than to paint the tale more bloody. The biggest saving grace is how well narrated these are by Big Bear Audio; digestible 'campfire tales' style stories (some even seemed too brief).
