From award-winning physicist, public intellectual, and the bestselling author of A Universe from Nothing Lawrence Krauss, comes “a masterful blend of history, modern physics, and cosmic perspective that empowers the reader to not only embrace our understanding of the universe, but also revel in what remains to be discovered” (Neil deGrasse Tyson, American Museum of Natural History).

In this grand poetic vision of the universe, Lawrence Krauss tells the dramatic story of the discovery of the hidden world that underlies reality - and our place within it.

Reality is not what you think or sense - it’s weird, wild, and counterintuitive, and its inner workings seem at least as implausible as the idea that something can come from nothing.

With his trademark wit and accessible style, Krauss leads us to realms so small that they are invisible to microscopes, to the birth and rebirth of light, and into the natural forces that govern our existence. His unique blend of rigorous research and engaging storytelling invites us into the lives and minds of remarkable scientists who have helped unravel the unexpected fabric of reality with reasoning rather than superstition and dogma, and to explain how everything we see - and can’t see - came about. A passionate advocate for reason, Krauss gives the rationale for the seemingly irrational - and the mysteries and apparent contradictions of quantum physics, and explores what that means for our lives here on Earth - and beyond.

At its core, The Greatest Story Ever Told - So Far is about the best of what it means to be human - an epic history of our ultimately purposeless universe that addresses the question, “Why are we here?”

Reseñas de la Crítica

"The Greatest Story Ever Told - So Far ranges from Galileo to the LHC and beyond. It's accessible, illuminating, and surprising - an ideal guide for anyone interested in understanding our accidental universe." --Elizabeth Kolbert, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Sixth Extinction

"A rich, definitely not-dumbed-down history of physics.... An admirable complement to the author's previous book and equally satisfying for those willing to read carefully." --Kirkus

"In confident...prose, Krauss tells a story that both celebrates and explores science. Through it, he reminds readers why scientists build such complicated machinery and push the boundaries of the quantum world when nothing makes sense: 'For no more practical reason than to celebrate and explore the beauty of nature.'" --Publishers Weekly

It's Krauss. I would rather hear him speak than anyone else. It's like attending one of his lectures.

Good grief! The narrator is just fine.

This is definitely not the kind of book you want to listen to while doing household chores. The material is very difficult and requires your full attention at every moment.

Very difficult.

Krauss is very readable and this book is no exception, but beware you might find some (or the bulk) of this over your head. It is an highly academic book to the average person.
Krauss is an excellent narrator. He is interesting and raises issues everyone should consider regardless of their views, and reviews scientists with breakthroughs in physics that you should at least learn about even if you don't fully understand them.
The big picture in the end IS truly the greatest story ever told even when you're not quite sure what that is exactly because Krause moves through these difficult concepts very quickly. I deducted one star for this brevity which compels the inquiring listener to do his or her own further research to clarify and comprehend the details. The progression of points Krause strives to make are nevertheless fascinating.

Don't Get Intimidated! Complex History of Phyics.

The content is so vast it commands at least another listen. I do this on the selections I really love. The way the content is presented, I was hanging on the edge of my seat. KUDOS!!!

I’m going back to page 1 & listen again

Lawrence Krauss offers another intriguing overview of modern physics (particle physics emphasis), leading up to current research efforts. He explains that the implications of physics can ultimately provide some understanding as to how we (people and the universe) came to be. He correctly points out that the "Why?" questions are almost always meaningless, and that "How?" is a much more tractable and useful question. Obviously, the book doesn't have a definitive answer, only a hopeful sense that we are progressing towards it. One last great take-away is the idea of answering questions with "I don't know" as a humble and inspirational (a move to action) response to these hard questions of "What are our origins?"; an answer that all of us should use more often.

Subtitle should be "How are we here?"

What a great book. Everyone should read it. Presented so you can understand the material.

Great book

His voice was annoying and at times very stilted which is weird since he wrote it. But the review of physics theories and the who’s who was very good. I wanted more of a bang at the end and it didn’t come. 😂

Nice review of theory

I was on the edge of my seat during this book waiting to hear something that would prove to me that God is not the creator of the universe. Not that I want to hear that, but I just can't wait to hear of some proof that all my life of faith was wasted. I did not hear that in this book. The author just lead me to the only thing I've always heard from the science community. Our existence is only a cosmic accident. Well if that's all you got you failed to convince me. Science, so far, has yet to explain why we are here. After all the great discovery and Nobel Prizes awarded, all they have is, it's all an accident. That is laughable. Come back to me when you have an answer. Until then, I choose to believe in a Creator. Just because you scientists with your denile and arrogance can't accept that doesn't mean a Creator doesn't exist.

No Proof That God Does Not Exist

The book is amazing but the concepts explained are sometimes too difficult for an average reader. However I can't blame the author for my own ignorance. Having said that, I think there might be an easier way of explaining these concepts in more layman's terms especially that the book was meant for general audience.

Simply brilliant, but...
