When the narrator blows you away...

I've stated previously how much I loved this series as a child growing up. Eagerly awaiting the release of every book. I loved them all, I cried, rejoiced, mourned. The story had felt so alive and I had never thought that anybody would be able to 'tell' me the story as well as I had read it. I had tried the other narrators but... it hadn't felt right. They're not bad, I'm listening Sanderson. But Pike has blown me away. This isn't the first time, nor the second considering that I read Eye of the World. No, the first time she blew my mind was when I watched a play called Madame de Sade in London. I knew then, when she stood equal to Dame Judi Dench in that theatre, that she was someone to watch. And she has not disappointed. The performance is rich, the characters all given their own voices. Her words, those of Jordan, paints the world in bright colors. This is such a pleasure to listen to.
I truly hope Rosamund Pike will complete the whole series. I'm willing to wait for every book, as I did decades ago for the series. This narration has done the world justice.

Rosamund Pike deserves an award

Both Wheel of Time books narrated by Rosamund Pike are phenomenal. There are times when listening, I stop, turn to my wife in shock and go:

“This is ALL one person.”

I’ve never enjoyed narration so much as I have when she does it, and it’s so true to how I’ve experienced the characters when I’ve read the books on my own. If there was an Oscar for best narrator, she should have it! Much better then the other WoT audiobook narrators, so much so I’ll have to wait another year for Pike’s narration of “The Dragon Reborn”

Rosamund saves The Wheel of Time

The second book in the series read by Rosamund Pike continues to bring this series to life in ways that the previous recordings never could. The entire production is phenomenal. I had attempted to get into this series so many times over the years and never could. Now it’s like a feast for the ears and imagination. The story comes to life and it as enjoyable as book one.

Phenomenal

Rosamund Pike is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to. She brings the story alive. I've even listened to a couple of Jane Austin books she did on here. The way she gives characters unique voices is both fitting for their personalities and impressive. I know who's speaking before it's even specified, after getting to know them. Just amazing. I really hope she does more of the series!

For the book itself, The Wheel of Time is classic. If you enjoy rich worlds of fantasy and magic, you need to experience this story. The amount of life and detail Robert Jordan put into this world is amazing. This series has been a staple part of my life since I was about 8 and trying to read the big books my mom read lol. I might be biased, but it's worth diving into.

Rosamund Pike Makes this Book

This book is simply fantastic. It's more mature than the first book and has some very genuinely shocking, emotional, and almost scary moments. This coupled with Rosamund Pike's fantastic performance and it'll be hard to not finish this book in a week. I found myself excusing myself from conversations with my roommate to go listen to this book. At times I grew annoyed at Rand, as he comes to terms with who he is but those moments are far and few between, compared to the times I was actually chewing my fingernails in anticipation.
I'm now torn as I want to listen to the next book, but don't want a new narrator.
