When their thirteen-year-old daughter Barbara goes missing at summer camp, all eyes fall on the Van Laar family.

They're cold, rich people. They own the camp. And it's happened to them before.

Fourteen years ago their little boy, Bear, vanished without a trace.

Two children lost to the same wilderness.

Is it a tragedy… or a crime?

I loved the careful way she build up the story - it was so beautifully written and I loved the sensitive way she presented her flawed
characters. The setting was made very real and she kept us guessing till the end . Wonderful .

Gripping story

It was a great listen which got better and better as it went on. I like the way the author gets into the mind of girls and young women as she weaves the plot from multiple perspectives.

Different perspectives, female psyche.

Look, I went into this totally blind because Taylor Swift was listening to it in her docuseries, I didn’t even know what it was about and frankly at that point the plot was irrelevant. But I did really enjoy it, I had no idea where it was going and that was fun.

Only listened cos Taylor Swift

At first, I found the time- and head-hopping a bit confusing. But once I got used to it, the story really drew me in. I loved the setting! One of those stories I wished were even longer.

Great setting, gripping story
