In her latest enchanting novel, New York Times best-selling author Sarah Addison Allen invites you to a quirky little Southern town with more magic than a full Carolina moon. Here two very different women discover how to find their place in the world - no matter how out of place they feel. Emily Benedict came to Mullaby, North Carolina, hoping to solve at least some of the riddles surrounding her mother’s life. Such as, why did Dulcie Shelby leave her hometown so suddenly? And why did she vow never to return? But the moment Emily enters the house where her mother grew up and meets the grandfather she never knew - a reclusive, real-life gentle giant - she realizes that mysteries aren’t solved in Mullaby, they’re a way of life: Here are rooms where the wallpaper changes to suit your mood. Unexplained lights skip across the yard at midnight. And a neighbor bakes hope in the form of cakes.

Everyone in Mullaby adores Julia Winterson’s cakes - which is a good thing, because Julia can’t seem to stop baking them. She offers them to satisfy the town’s sweet tooth but also in the hope of rekindling the love she fears might be lost forever. Flour, eggs, milk, and sugar...Baking is the only language the proud but vulnerable Julia has to communicate what is truly in her heart. But is it enough to call back to her those she’s hurt in the past?

Can a hummingbird cake really bring back a lost love? Is there really a ghost dancing in Emily’s backyard? The answers are never what you expect. But in this town of lovable misfits, the unexpected fits right in.

The Girl Who Chased the Moon is full of little mysteries and unusual characters which make you wish the world Allen's created in Mulaby, NC could go on and on. Allen must know what I've known since I was eleven, that small Southern towns simply have a bit of magic here and there.

A little magic

THE GIRL WHO CHASED THE MOON is another great story that rates with GARDEN SPELLS.

The author is very adept at character development. She also throws into her books a magical whimsy that weaves through the storyline. It gives another level to peak interest and to further flesh out the characters and add details to the settings.

A wonderful read. Thank you!

Another Wonderful Book by Sarah Addison Allen

the story itself is no big deal, but it is certainly entertaining , as i said sweet and with strokes of little magic(not the paranormal kind) it reminds me of some of A. Hoffman's novels, the magic I mean. Anyway, the book is light in a good way, like a glass of cool spring water. What I did not like was the ending: too abrupt unless there is a sequel.
i liked the performance. It was very good. all in all, I think it's worthwhile.

sweet and magical

This book had a slow start for me and I found myself setting it aside a few times. Once I got through the first few chapters, I found myself enjoying the story greatly. There are a few references to the cliff hanger, and yes, the book ends with a question. Searching the title for Allen's next book, I believe that she will continue the story and answer the qestion in her next novel "The Lake House." I found myself smiling during the last few chapters, Im excited to hear what happens with Sawyer and Julia, as well as Wynn and Emily.

Slow but sweet

Would you listen to The Girl Who Chased the Moon again? Why?

Yes! It was a fantastic story.

Any additional comments?

This was another wonderful story by Sarah Addison Allen. The ONLY reason I knocked off a star for the story is because the ending was so abrupt! Everything else was fantastic. I think I may have found another favorite author.

I love this world!

This is my second time reading/listening to the book and I remembered why I fell in love with the book.

There is some romance, magic, but more than that it gives hope.

Hope for a better tomorrow even when today is bad.

Overall, I finished in 2 days even when juggling motherhood, work, and other things.

Amazing novel.

Simply Magical
