Publisher's Summary

Bookshop owner Penelope Thornton-McClure and her ghostly companion must solve the case of a literary killer in this Haunted Bookshop mystery from Cleo Coyle, writing as Alice Kimberly.

Pen has just received an extremely rare collection of Edgar Allan Poe's complete works. Rumor has it a secret code, trapped within the books' leather-bound pages leads, to buried treasure. Well, it looks like they got the buried part right - because, as Pen sells off the valuable volumes, everyone who buys...dies.

Once these books go missing from their owners' cold hands, Pen will need resident ghost and hard-boiled P.I. Jack Shepard to help crack the case. The police are skeptical that the deaths involved foul play - so it's up to them to unravel these shocking endings....

Love Poe

A lot of interesting information on Poe. This made for a very interesting murder mystery. Lots of twist and turns. Truly enjoy the characters.

Best so far

I've enjoyed the previous books in the series, but wasn't over-the-moon with them. But this one seems to take it to a better level. The mix of the old PI's ghost and the more complex mystery threaded in with the song's life and all the town's people's personalities creates something much richer. Partly it's just developing the world of the book through the previous stories, and partly this is just a really good plot!

Clever premise, however..

the lead female character comes off as a dim wit do to poorly written dialogue. i think a good editor could have caught this and helped this book reach escape velocity. .

Pretty good

This is a pretty good mystery. I enjoyed the Jack's mystery more than Penelope's present day mystery.

I could not finish this book

The story line was just too unbelievable on this book. I have enjoyed the previous books, bout this time it was just silly. By chapter two, the story line lost me completely. No one is as stupid as Penn and her aunt.

ok

The mystery is pretty good, but, I. don't really care for treasure hunts. I should have read the book description. I did enjoy the mystery from Jack's case file.
