Publisher's Summary

In the tradition of the best-selling book The One Minute Manager, authors Ken Blanchard and S. Truett Cathy, entrepreneur and founder of Chic-fil-A restaurants, present The Generosity Factor—a parable that demonstrates the virtues of generosity. It’s the story of a meeting between the Broker—a young man on his way up the corporate ladder who has the illusion of success, yet deep inside feels insignificant—and the Executive—the CEO of a very large and successful company who claims the greatest joy in his life is his ability to give to others.

Thinking he might get a competitive edge by meeting with the Executive, the Broker’s worldview is turned upside down as he talks to the Executive and hears the principles that form his life. He calls it the Generosity Factor—a way to give time, talent, treasure, and touch to those in need.

Providing a unique twist on what it means to thrive in business, at home, and in life, this story will forever change your definition of success.

Blessed

This book was touching. As a Christian I have always given back, but not always with a joyful heart. I did with obedience instead. Much like the “Broker” I’ve had a lot of success in my life as you will read in the book. I purchased this Audible on Friday and Started it on Monday. The Sunday before my husband and I purchased a timeshare. Though it seemed like the right thing to do, we love to travel, and we already spend well over what we would put in to travel annually without one. Then, this book....The Generosity Factor came into my world and laid out an eye opening perspective. My boss exemplifies God just as the Enterprise. Blessed with a successful company, etc. His son, our COO told me he and his wife have not been on vacation in well over a year as a couple. In my mind, I thought, you travel all the time...and he does, for business. They poor their resources into those in need just as the Enterprise does, blessed for what they have and give God’s resources back. It’s almost as if I was listening to my boss tell this story, but it’s their heart. Needless to say, this all made me ask myself....Am I putting the resources God gave me into the right place? Can we help others by having a timeshare or is solely for our own selfishness because I like to get away often because I don’t know how to shut the world off and spend time with God when I am home? I sent my husband a message and asked him to listen to this book and to pray about it. Though if he experienced anything like I did, the discernment of God will tell
Him. This book and the message God gave you to share, is already marinated and refurbishing what God planted long ago. Thank you.

Heart

I enjoyed hearing the stories of all the characters and how their lives played out. I liked how the Broker and Executive met and spent some time together. I feel maybe the Broker could of been more mean in order to show a total transformation at the end. To see a completely changed heart. Nonetheless, the point of the story still got across to the audience at least in my opinion. I would share this book to one of my close friends because we believe in God and the book explains how all is God's amen. I give it all stars because the author had the idea to write a story on generosity and he succeeded.

A lesson...

(Actually more than one ;-) Regardless of your relationship with Christ this book is a reminder of where we stand in the world and how we can make it better. It's even more relevant since it's a loose translation of a real-life executive...enjoy and share!!!

A must read!

Just as Jesus taught us that it is more bless to give than to receive, this book is certainly a timely reminder of the words of Jesus and self reflection for me. I must use the gifts God has blessed me with to positively impact the life of others. The narrator drew me in.
