The Game You Play surprised me in a good way. After listening to the first book, I wasn't a huge fan of the hero (Jason), but I hoped for the best and dove in. I have to say that LA Cotton did a very good job redeeming this alpha a-hole. This is an angsty YA/NA romance, so don't expect rainbows and unicorns. Jason really lives up to his reputation for being a manwhore and world class jerk many times in the book and though I still don't love him, I do feel like I understand him and his motivations better. I didn't enjoy all the OW drama and that he still "passed the time" after things had already started with Felicity (even if it wasn't official and he denied his feelings/the connection). I liked Felicity and that she grew through the course of the book, but I do wish that she would have put her foot down more and not been a complete doormat for Jason.

I understand that this is YA/NA, so miscommunications and misunderstandings are par for the course, but the entire feud with Thatcher and his threats were a bit much. As I did in the first book, I often wondered where the parental supervision was and still feel like having this book series take place in college would have been a better choice. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a wonderful job narrating and I really enjoyed all of the emotion they put into it. Puckett's performance was especially moving. I'm excited for Asher (and Mya's!) story next, especially after he was friend zoned by Felicity and his selflessness at the end of the book.

This Series Is So Good

You will remember Felicity and Jason from the first book. Jason was the meanest from the first book so I was scared I wouldn’t be able to root for him. By the end I was fully behind he and Felicity and I can’t wait for the next book!

Very Engaging Story, Awesome Narration!!!

The Game You Play is book two in the Rixon Raiders series and focuses on Jason Ford, QB 1 of the Raiders, and Felicity, who happens to be Jason's stepsister's bestie. The first book in the series ended with them in a compromising position of sorts, so I was very excited to dive into this book and see what would become of these characters.

Jason's sole focus has always been football, yet he can't seem to get Felicity out of his mind. Felicity is not one of the popular girls and because Jason and his stepsister have always had a tumultuous relationship, that makes her even more off limits. But, senior year she decides to break out of her shell and embrace new experiences, and try new things, one of which might just be the school's most popular bad boy.

I enjoyed the transformation throughout the book of Jason's character. He showed tremendous growth from being very self-centered and egotistical to looking out for others and putting other people before himself. Despite he and Felicity seemingly being polar opposites, there was something about them that just worked.

I really enjoy this author's writing style and absolutely cannot wait for book three in the series. I have thoroughly enjoyed these characters and all the drama. It has kept me fully engaged in the story. I would definitely recommend this book and this series!!!

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross are highly enjoyable to listen to. Wen Ross did an awesome job not only as Jason but as the other male voices in the story, such as the coach etc. He has a commanding voice that really brings the story to life. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

QB1

Felicity has her list, her senior year bucket list. Lose her virginity, fall in messy love, skip class, fall asleep under the stars, have a real drink at Bells. Jason Ford isn't exactly on her list but then again... QB1 is everything Felicity should avoid. He doesn't do girlfriends, he's tormented her best friend for years, he will destroy her. Jason isn't interested. Felicity is not his type, She's a smart-mouthed pain with no fashion sense; she's not his type and worst of all she's a distraction. He has his sights set on college and the pros. He can't afford any distractions. So why can't they stay away from each other?

This is such an entertaining series. Felicity and Jason are one of those couples that frustrate you to the point of screaming. Their friends know they should be together. The readers know they should be together. But the couple themselves does everything possible to deny the inevitable. They tease, they taunt, they deny. These two have just great chemistry, fantastic banter, and challenge each other in the best and worst of ways.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a great job bringing this story to audio. They made each character distinct. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Great listen!!!

I knew there was something going on with Felicity and Jason! I honestly couldn’t wait to be able to listen their story! It’s the perfect enemies to lovers, bully romance while falling in love with your step sisters best friend. I loved everything about this one.

Jason seems like he’s got it all. Football, money, girls...the list goes on. But people can’t see the pressure he is under to be all those things that are expected of him. I think Felicity is the perfect match for him. She helps balance everything out. Jason just needs to realize it, before she walks for good.

I can’t wait for book 3!!

Sarah and Wen did a fabulous job as always!

Great YA, and enemies to lovers story

This is the second book in the Rixon Raiders Series. This is a great YA, sports romance, enemies to lovers, and bully romance. Felicity and Jason's story is well written. Felicity is a lovely character. Jason is definitely an intriguing character. The story has angst, and drama. This Series has interconnected characters, but you can listen to this story as a standalone. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a great job with the narration. #AudiobookObsession

Love this couple

I love Bad Boys romances, and Jason was the perfect one. There were times when I hated him and all I wanted to do was strangle him, but there were others when I felt for him. ⠀
As for Felicity, I like her and her personality which was perfect to melt Jason's heart. ⠀

The narration was fantastic, both Wen Ross and Sarah Puckett did an amazing job narrating this book. ⠀

Loved it.

Absolutely loved it!!
The chemistry between the characters was sizzling, and their hate to love relationship was full of angst—just how I like it.
The secondary characters were excellent, especially Asher. He was hilarious.

The narrators made this story come to life. Excellent voices and tone gave me no doubt as to who was talking.

Love To Hate Him

Jason and Felicity have a love hate relationship, but she gets hurt more than he does. They want each other and have a strong attraction for each other. Jason has a hard time admitting that he is falling for Felicity, because already is in love with him. I love this story better than the first book. The drama and the crazy ride these two put you in throughout this book. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a fantastic job in narrating this story.

Interesting twisted story

I feel like this story really had me hooked in at the beginning all the way until the end to see where these characters were going to end up. The characters I loved while I guess Jason I hated for a while but I feel like it's because we didn't really understand him. This story of a football rivalry has really on the next level and for a story set in high school I did love all the drama. This story I feel like did a great job getting you hooked into the characters emotions keeping you on the edge of your seat to see what was going to happen next. I also have to say that I think that the dual narration was great with this story and that these are some of my favorite narrators. Overall I really enjoyed pretty much everything about this book both the story and the narration if you're looking for a sports high school rivalry romance this one's for you.

Great story, and an outstanding performance.

This is the second book in the Rixon Raiders series and Wowzer! It was every bit as good as The Trouble With You. This story focuses on Felicity and her best friends stepbrother Jason. Of all the men to fall for she had to pick the guy that she didn’t even like. The whole school either wants him of wants to be him. Except Felicity, but of course the path of true love never runs smoothly…
The writing was moreish, enticing and the characters were so well developed and kept my interest. I needed to know what happened next!
I would say that you would be best off reading the first book in the series for two reasons. Firstly, these characters have a backstory that you get the full benefit of The Game You Play. Secondly, The Trouble With You is a fantastic read/ listen.
This is a hot read that has been once again narrated to an amazingly high standard by the super talented Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross. They can narrate sexy scenes without them becoming smut. I consider this to be a huge bonus. Their characterisation is again sublime, and I just love their voice acting.

the Rixon Raiders are back !

The Rixon Raiders are back! And like the previous book they aren't going down without a fight , this book focuses on Jason and Felicity who we met in The Trouble With You but now their fighting their own feelings and hassle with other football teams just looking to cause trouble , I really enjoyed this book as much as the first and I cant wait for the rest of the books to come out , you're really made to feel as if you know the characters and that you're there along side them experiencing everything with them , that's when you know the story is good , it hooks you in and does not let go ! The narrators were amazing in telling the story , really feeling and believing in the emotions the characters were feeling, if I had to recommend either reading or listening to this series it would definitely be listening, it is nothing short of brilliant

Love it!

Gah. I loved this audio! LA Cotton brings another book that just sucks you in and keeps your attention!

I hated Jason all through out the first book and probably the first half of this one. I just wanted to reach through and smack him upside his head. That being said, I loved hearing him lose his “I have no time for distractions” attitude and fall for Felicity. I also love the fact she’s not the typical girl a popular guy would go for, especially not QB One. Felicity is a sweet girl that has a bucket list she wants to accomplish before she graduates. These two go back and forth, push and pull. But when they’re chemistry is always 🔥.

Sarah Puckett & Wen Ross together are a match made in heaven. I can listen to both of them all day!

Jason Freaking Ford lol

Audiobook review. I quite enjoy the angst and tension created by bully / enemies to lovers romances. I was looking forward to this book because in book one, Jason Ford was moody, broody, and mean. His rivalry with a player from another team has been making the lives of this group of friends impossible.

As with most romances in this genre, our main characters Felicity and Jason are resistant to their attraction. Mistakes were made along the way and Jason made some choices that I REALLY was not a fan of. However, I understand that it added elements of contention to the story. Felicity leaned more toward doormat than strong heroine but she had a kind heart and was still entertaining.

The plot was interesting and I liked that the interconnected conflict was taken more seriously this time. The pace was good until the end where the transition for Jason’s big realization happened abruptly.

The secondary characters were used effectively and I’m definitely curious about what happens next for these couples.

I didn’t really find any issues at all with the narration. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross brought their A game like they always do.

Jase and Flick!

From the moment we met Jase is the Trouble With You he was the egotistical jerk that you loved to hate. All he was concerned about was playing football and everything else came a distant second and that included his teammates, his family and girls. Every move he made was to secure his plan to get into a college and then go onto a professional career until Flick became a game changer.

Flick is his step-sister’s best friend and she has been crushing on Jase even though she knew that being with him would only end in heartache. She is in her senior year and she has decided that this is the year to follow her dreams and embrace new experiences, but nothing would prepare her for the experience of Jase.

Jase doesn’t allow many people close but once he does he is all in and Flick is perfect for him as not only does she ground him but she challenges him as well. Their journey is filled with twists, emotion, heat and so much angst but the end result makes it all worthwhile. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrators did a great job at bringing the angst and emotion of these characters to life.
