QB One is officially off the market!

Overall 3.5 stars
Performance 4 stars
Story 3 stars

The Game You Play surprised me in a good way. After listening to the first book, I wasn't a huge fan of the hero (Jason), but I hoped for the best and dove in. I have to say that LA Cotton did a very good job redeeming this alpha a-hole. This is an angsty YA/NA romance, so don't expect rainbows and unicorns. Jason really lives up to his reputation for being a manwhore and world class jerk many times in the book and though I still don't love him, I do feel like I understand him and his motivations better. I didn't enjoy all the OW drama and that he still "passed the time" after things had already started with Felicity (even if it wasn't official and he denied his feelings/the connection). I liked Felicity and that she grew through the course of the book, but I do wish that she would have put her foot down more and not been a complete doormat for Jason.

I understand that this is YA/NA, so miscommunications and misunderstandings are par for the course, but the entire feud with Thatcher and his threats were a bit much. As I did in the first book, I often wondered where the parental supervision was and still feel like having this book series take place in college would have been a better choice. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a wonderful job narrating and I really enjoyed all of the emotion they put into it. Puckett's performance was especially moving. I'm excited for Asher (and Mya's!) story next, especially after he was friend zoned by Felicity and his selflessness at the end of the book.

This Series Is So Good

You will remember Felicity and Jason from the first book. Jason was the meanest from the first book so I was scared I wouldn’t be able to root for him. By the end I was fully behind he and Felicity and I can’t wait for the next book!

The 2nd book of the Trilogy is just as good as the first!

Felicity’s story is one I fell in love with. Her pure good heart falling for the dark, cocky, football player. I’m pretty sure she has always loved him and didn’t know it. Listening/reading these two love story was fun to listen too. This trilogy has been my favorite to listen too!

Amazing!

The Game You Play By L.A. Cotton is a YA/NA enemies to lovers sports romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross.

All I can say is Wow! This is an amazing book and I cannot wait until The Harder You Fall is released on January 7, 2020. Lianne did an amazing job with the characters. I just had to know how the story was going to end. I enjoy that each book can be read as a standalone but are based around the same group of friends just a different relationship.

Once again Sarah and Wen knocked it out of the park. They are an amazing duo. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Young Adult, Enemies-To-Lovers Romance, or Sports Romance.

Property of a Raider

I knew Jase’s fall would be epic but OMG😱 There was so much hate, lust, betrayal, loyalty & I LOVED every second of it. Sarah & Wenn absolutely brought Felicity & Jason to life:)

Games. Games. Games.

Jason Ford and Felicity had this connection, no matter how hard they fought. Even though Jason was a grade A jerk, it made sense. The secrets, the deception, it was unexpected. I wanted to hate him. I wanted Felicity to say screw it and be with Asher, then I grew to love Jason and understood him, and I loved the way everything played out once I knew.. (no spoilers here! ;) but IYKYK.)

Felicity has a list of things she wants to accomplish before senior year ends. It's her way of branching out. It's her way of trying new things and living a little.

Jason Ford is QB1, he is a god at school and around the whole town really. He gets his way and what he says goes. Girls throw themselves at him and they know the score. People let him do as he pleases and nobody is going to tell him anything.

These two are polar opposites, you can feel the attraction, but you can also feel the indecision and the hostility.

I loved Asher and wanted him and Felicity to be together so bad, but I get it. You can't help who you fall in love with.

Then the twist came and things clicked into place. I understood a little better and swooned a little harder. Now I need Asher's story. He can't just be a party boy with no cares in the world. There has to be more to him.. he's too perceptive.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did a great job again on this book, they are good at helping differentiate between all the characters and help to give them all their own little something..

My Thoughts on The Game You Play

4.5 of 5 stars

Book two of the Rixon Raiders series by L.A. Cotton was a whirlwind of emotion. I liked the way it was written for so many reasons. No full on flashback scenes or chapters. Instead telling me plenty to understand what had happened not only between Jason and Felicity but also certain aspects of Jason's past that are important to who he is now. I'll admit that while I loved Felicity pretty much from the beginning, Jason was sometimes frustratingly cruel and I often wanted Felicity to just wring his neck and maybe knee him somewhere he'd remember instead of fall for him. But he did eventually grow on me. I'm not sure he'll stand out as my favorite of these guys after this series is done but this book itself was well worth reading and will still have me coming back for more of this author.

I had the pleasure of reading and listening to this book and one of the other things that kept me hooked to the story was the stand out narration. I loved Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross in this story. Both of them do a fantastic job of showing the right emotion for the moment whether it be sadness, happiness, anger or even disgust. There are reasons I've come to prefer having professional narration to experience my stories more and more and these two narrators are part of the reason.

Angsty enemies to lovers with a swoony HEA.

Ahhhh. Jason and Flick. I was so eager for this story after finishing book one, and L.A. Cotton delivered! Jason is a tough character; he's a mess with a lot of issues. Felicity (Flick) is just driving him mad, but that's because he doesn't understand his feelings for her. The author reveals why he did what he did for Felicity. He's under alot of pressure and you learn about his intentions behind his actions. This is an angsty enemies to lovers romance filled with steam and drama, with awesome case of characters who you can't help but love.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross are wonderful in this narration. I just loved it!

Excellent continuation

This is the first series, second book, I've read/listened to by L A Cotton. I loved this book even more than the first...and that is saying a lot! The characters have completely gained my heart and I'm completely invested in their stories! I cried, smiled, then cried some more. I look forward to the next book!

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross are excellent narrators. Their performances truly brought this book to life. They are two of my favorite narrators!

Loved Felicity and Jason!

Book Two is just as fantastic as book one! I fell in love even more with these characters and the Rixon Raiders world that LA Cotton has built. A fantastic book, one filled with heartbreak and sacrifice, I hung on every word performed by Sarah and Wen. I adore these two narrating together! They are two of my favorites and a seriously dynamic duo. Loved it so much!
Jason is a serious asshole, but I loved his transformation and the levels of him that you get to see as his layers are peeled away. So many feels in this one.

Another Cotton couple to get on board with!

After reading Trouble I was eager to read Felicity & Jason's story; particularly because I liked Felicity's character and I couldn't warm to Jason, I thought he was a bit of a nob to be honest! But Cotton has a habit of making you change you mind about characters...

And this was no different. Though he was still a bit of a d**k in the beginning, the more I read, the more I came to understand him a little more. I still wouldn't say he's my favourite (Cameron holds that title at the minute) but I can abide him now, lol.

Felicity I sympathised with because I felt like I her parents were holding her back from what she really wanted to do, and I didn't particularly like her mum. I could tell she had a proper thing for Jason though, and as much as I didn't like him at first, I was hoping she would get her guy.

The storyline continued seamlessly from that of Trouble and it progressed well to weave F & J's story into it more, and introduce a bit more of the main female character from the next book.

Good Listen

Jason is "The Star" and he has it all and can get anyone he wants until Felicity, his sisters best friend. One drunken hookup leads to more drama. He tries to leave her alone to protect her but can't let go.

Stand alone story with great narration

The Game You Play is the second book in the Rixon Raiders series, but you don’t have to listen to the first one to enjoy this one. The same characters feature prominently in both books, but they’re a lot nicer in the second book. I actually want to go back to listen to the first book again to revisit the characters and an old event because I had a drastically more positive impression of them from this book.

You know when you get to the twist at end of the movie The Sixth Sense, how you think back over the events to see if it could be true? The same thing happened in the second half of this book. I actually listened to a couple hours in the middle a second time trying to see if it made sense (the narrators are amazing, so I didn't mind listening to it again, though it totally did come out of nowhere). There were also a couple times at the beginning of the book, mainly in a character's thoughts, that pushed the boundaries of no means no, and I was disappointed that a coach in 2019 was insulting his football players by calling them "ladies". I would have liked to give story 4.5 stars.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross are fabulous narrators and if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. I always appreciate dual narrators for stories with dual points of view, and these two make a great team to bring the story to life. I almost never listen to audiobooks more than once, but i’ve already listened to the middle of this one twice and I would go back to listen to the first one again because it's another great performance by these narrators.

Lovely story

I loved this story but I hated Jason in the beginning. Felicity had backbone although in the beginning I found her a little weak.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Secondary characters that had me yearning for their stories.
Lots of feelings in this story and intense love scenes.
Young love is scary, heartbreaking and beautiful.

Narrators:
I love these two, they are reading with such intensity and making the story and the characters come alive.
The pronunciation is clear and NOT once did I feel that the sound was to sharp.
Wonderful narrators

Book 2

I really enjoyed this book. I’m excited for book 3. I love the characters, even if Jason is a huge Jackwagon. There is more to him once he is uncovered. Sometimes it seemed odd to me that they were only in high school b/c of the drinking and sexual experience. Maybe I’m old school lol. The narration is great! I definitely recommend this series.

The Bad Boy Falls For His Good Girl

The Game You Play is the second book in the Rixon Raiders Series. I was hooked into this story, it flows nicely, it has drama, emotion, young adult, and football rivarly. All the things I like in my stories. The narrators Sarah and Wen did a wonderful job with the narration, and they brought the characters to life. I liked listening to them. Looking forward to listening to Asher and Mia's story next.

The Game Is A Hit With Me👍

L.A. Cotton, you wrote a 5-⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ hit with this installment of "The Game You Play, Book 2 of Rixon Raiders Series." Jas and Felicity love story will be one I'll remember for a longtime.

It was filled with so much RAW emotions and unforgivable pain, it enthralled me in wanting MORE of their story. It was intense and sexually CHARGED. "The Game You Play" is a Must-Read-Romance.

Now, for our narrator's Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross. They are my 'Dream Team' of Audiobooks. If I see their names on the cover, I know I'm going to love it because of them.

Sarah and Wen knows how to bring it to WIN it. They became Jas and Felicity to bring them to life. I freaking love this duet. You guys deserve every bit of these 5-⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!
