Publisher's Summary

The ground-breaking international best seller that reveals the indisputable scientific laws that can turn your achievements into success and how to use them to your own advantage.

In The Formula, Albert-László Barabási, one of the world's leading experts on the science of networks, reveals the unspoken rules behind who truly gets ahead and why, and outlines the five laws that govern this phenomenon and how we can use them to our own advantage. Drawing on Big Data research that covers everyone from the ace fighter pilot The Red Baron to graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat; Miles Davis and his recording of 'Kind of Blue' to Marcel Duchamps and Tiger Woods, Barabasi, shows why success can come at any time, as long as we are persistent, why in successful teams one person gets the lion share of the credit and why the last interviewee almost always gets the job.

Unveiling the scientific principles that drive success, and how to leverage them, Barabasi offers a new understanding of the very foundation of how people excel in today's society, and how to harness these principles for yourself.

Mind blowing stuff

One of the best books I've listened to in a while. Detailed in how the laws are conceived, it leaves very little space for doubt. There's a scientific authenticity to the laws.

Excellent analysis of success

Lively informative read exploring the factors involved in success; good to learn that creativity doesn’t have a shelf life and success can come at anytime even post retirement do long as one remains productive. Interesting to hear some of the reasons why individuals are credited with team efforts and why networks are so important. If you want to increase the impact of your work, this is essential reading

It could have been a much shorter book...

It is an interesting work of Professor Barabasi. However, the whole story is made longer as it supposed to be. It could be a two-hours long one, and still it would have everything in it. Furthermore, a conclusion of the 5 laws together would be nice. I don't feel I gained further knowledge or extra information about success from this book. It is a nice perspective on having a formula for it though. 😃 Getting back to work now and waiting for the brilliant light bulb to go out... 😂

Thank you for the story anyway. Keep up the good work and hopefully one day we can read/listen a more successful story of Professor Barabasi. 😃

Amazing, inspirational, incredible true

I’m about to run and listen to this incredible audio book
I discovered it through MENTORBOX
I’m so glad
Is now 7 years that I listen and read self help books
And this is the pick that can bring all my materials together
I wish I could have had all of this in my younger age
I would like to cry
Many many thanks for this amazing book
Sincerely

What a great book

Not self help but science help. In the hundreds of books that I have read of the genre, this is likely the most useful.

An exceptional book on Success

This book answered so many questions I've had about success, popularity and the herd-like mentality I've observed in society.
I always attributed these to luck or timing but the book does a great job at explaining different aspects of what makes something successful.

Definitely a book everyone should listen to.

Thought provoking

An interesting take on barriers to success in the worldly sense and how to make the best in a wildly competitive market

I agree with most of the 5 principles albeit need to experiment and follow up on the suggested themes

Insightful, analytic and very relevant

By applying pattern recognitions, trend analyses of large network clicks, hits and ratings, Barabasi gives a quantifiable answer to key psychological questions of what makes a successful person. The lessons (formula) are not only surprising, some confirmatory but seem to be (in the quantifiable world) replicable as any scientific formula would be. And yet: there are very good lessons to be learned from this book.
In addition, it is very well written, at times outright funny and engaging until the very last (quite visionary) pages. Highly relevant and enjoyable.
