Publisher's Summary

In The Fence My Father Built, when legally separated Muri Pond, a librarian, hauls her kids, teenage Nova and 11-year-old Truman, out to the tiny town of Murkee, Oregon, where her father, Joe Pond, lived and died, she’s confronted by a neighbor’s harassment over water rights and Joe’s legacy: a fence made from old oven doors. The fence and accompanying house trailer horrify rebellious Nova, who runs away to the drug-infested streets of Seattle. Muri searches for her daughter and for something to believe in, all the while trying to save her inheritance from the conniving neighbor who calls her dad Chief Joseph. Along with Joe’s sister, Aunt Lutie, and the Red Rock Tabernacle Ladies, Muri must rediscover the faith her alcoholic dad never abandoned in order to reclaim her own spiritual path.

Believe

Heavy in religion. Story of greed, arrogance, deceit, which is eventually forgiven. Story of somethings lost but new and more exciting things found. Story of regrets but learning aching lessons from them.

Great read, well written, I highly recommend the story.

This was a great story. It is a story of love between parents and children. Also, it is a story of the love the creator has for his own. Great for those who have dealt with addiction or have family members that have. Also great for those who have a love for all things sacred or have Native American ancestry.

Good Book, however...

This was a good book on faith family and culture, set in eastern Oregon, my beloved state! The story line was easy to follow, however the person who read the book needs to do their homework on how to pronounce the name of the state, cities and land marks! Oregon is pronounced Ory-gun, Willamette is pronounced Will lamb ette , please before reading a novel set in a particular region do your homework on how that region pronounces their lame marks etc, other than that it was an interesting story!

Love this story

This story is about Native Americans in eastern Oregon. However, they could have been anywhere in the U.S. The White man still pushes the Indians down and make them live in terrible reservations. The story tells how Miri has to fight to save sacred ground from the white man by herself. This is a great story.
