Hate the stereotypes of POC

The story could have been sooo much better without the stereotypes of people of color. I mean, c'mon...#1. a young black single mother, #2. who is sexually aggressive, #3. wears "cornrows", #4. speaks ebonics in the workplace and # 4. is always happy in spite of working 12 hours a day and hardly seeing her child. (this is the worst because it reminds me of the old Sambo characters) Don't even get me started on how Marcus is portrayed! An alcoholic lustful beast is what. I've read a number of this author's books and I really don't like how she portrays POC. She's a good writer and I enjoy her other works, but this one left a bad taste. Narrator is good.

Great Book

I loved the characters. I fell in love with the story. It made me smile, and in some parts, it made me cry. Overall, it was great from beginning to end. It goes to show that therapy does help. I know this first hand. I'm glad she was able to incorporate it in the story.

Poor character development

I like this series but this story was boring. I could not understand why Xander liked the Trin??? She was judgmental and rude throughout the entire book. It was hard to listen to.

annoying (semi- spoiler)

I just don't understand how these two people could be in love. the woman is so b**chy and self-centered. she's so rude and then the going on a date at the end after 2 weeks. oh yeah so in love. I don't believe this author knows any POC and just took the most known stereotypes and implied them to the characters.

Trin is seriously self centered and a true catastrophizer. She needs to get over herself.

Good elements but lack the substance

I really wanted to like this story but it was mediocre. Honestly, it was weird to focus so much on physical attraction. The major turning point in both their lives was faith and that was skimmed over so fast. Would prefer more focus on them turning their burdens over to God to really emphasize why they changed and the peace that came with it.

Religious references

It was fine until religious references at the end of the story. I would prefer to keep the lord out if my stories.

Simple love story, well narrated

Not gripping but then not boring. Simple, relatively short Hallmark Movie type story! Praise the Lord! ( :
