This is a Fairytale of Johnstown, PA's Morley Dog. In this version the history of the dog is revealed with the magic of how the dog comes to life to save people.
Supposedly eye witnesses describe the events of the dog coming to life, even though they have had several beers. The history traces it back to a meteor that was used in the metal of the mold, and the mold itself being made in the Black Forest of Germany. You know, the Black Forest of giants, witches, princesses, and wizards.
