Publisher's Summary

The international bestseller and epic adventure

A fierce and merciless demon has been unleashed on the world, spreading destruction and bloodshed in both the human and the elven realms. Northlander Jarl Mandred witnesses the ruthless attack on his men, and he seeks vengeance with the help of the elf queen, Emerelle. Despite Mandred's barbaric human nature, the queen orchestrates an elfhunt joined by the two strongest warriors in Albenmark to pursue the beast. Farodin, the fiercest fighter in the land, and Nuramon, the healer, seize the opportunity to make history alongside Mandred in a life-defining series of battles waged in parallel universes.

The Elven is an epic tale, bringing heroes together across the boundaries of their worlds to avenge past losses and influence fates yet to be decided.

Good read!

Just finished this book. I felt like the 1 star review it had was grossly unfair. At the begining I was drawn into the story right away. It such a refresher to read a book that doesn't follow the overdone storyline in alot of fantasy books. You know the one. Some poor farmer kid has great magical power. And can't control it. Or he is secretly the son of a king. or something along those lines. I have over 500 fantasy based books in my collection. and this one is definitely in the top 20. take a chance you won't be disappointed.

A Truly Unique Fantasy Novel

A story of true heroism with 3 unlikely companions on an adventure through the ages. I was captivated by the sacrifices and bravery and friendship all in the name of great love. If you like fantasy, let Bernhard Hennen guide you through this one of a kind world of magic, epic battles, and victory!

The Elven

Well-written. Good plot development. Complex and yet amicable characteristics of protagonists. Thoroughly enjoyed sharing this story with family. Would happily recommend.

Best for adults

I absolutely cannot express how much I loved this story! However there is a chapter pretty early on that goes into some what explicit detail of a night shared between lovers. This was the only one of it’s kind however, so I suppose desegregation is the best way to handle it. Regardless this is an amazing story of adventure, love and loyalty that I feel would be a mistake to miss!

The standards of high fantasy are held ever higher

This well paced, well told, and well executed adventure made me pace my house, jump with joy, literally recoil in horror, and slump with sadness. The characters have become so close to me, it's as if I am losing friends upon finishing this book. this is my second read through, and every string inside my heart has been plucked. All hail Jarl Mandrid Torgridson.

Starts off slow

Though slow to begin, if you manage to wait out the first bit you'll likely be glad you did. This is a story of great battles and even greater love and loss. If tales of elves, dwarves, humans, and Gods are what you search for then this book hits the nail on the head.

Best Book Ever!

Elven is a wonderful epic fantasy! It is the best audio book I have ever heard and I listen to a lot of audio books. The author is an amazing writer and the voice actor is awesome! If you are considering reading or listening to it, then I highly recommend that you do! You won't regret it!

Believable characters

Loved it! Narrator, story, characters. All Great. The world. Historical research. Everything was Amazing. It was all so gripping. In fact, I didn't want to stop listening and reading. I stole every minute I could to finish this love story/epic journey.

You will not be disappointed by reading/ listening to this story. Trust me, the love story is not too much, but not too little either. Great all around.

It's a walking saga (No spoilers)

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Any kind of actual story in it.

Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?

Yes he was okay. Thus the three stars.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment for sure, so much could have been done instead of two elves walking from one place to another and then back again.

Any additional comments?

No spoilers because you pretty much know how it's going to end from the beginning. The only thing keeping you reading it is the hope that the author is surely not that stupid...only to find out that he is. The story begins with two elves courting one elf of no particular attraction. She is boring and lifeless...ends up almost causing the complete desolation of the world!! There is probably only 30 min. of interaction to get to know her throughout all 38 hours! It's a walking simulation where two elves search high and low for her. While letting the entire world go to shit around them. Then when they find her the most predicable thing happens she can only chose one of them! Like that's how it was always going to end but neither of the elves thought about it. Spare yourselves the painful 38 hours to get to this point and just know that it one of the elves ends up stranded for all eternity in war ridden world by himself....yup it's as lame as it sounds.

Wonderful story well told.

I love a good epic tale and this did not disappoint. The narrator especially did a brilliant job of bringing it to life, as well as having a voice and diction well suited to audio performance. I've listened to this several times in a row to get every nuance of the story and it's been very enjoyable.

I didn't want it to end.

I've never considered myself to be a fan of the fantasy genre but after completing The Elven I've joined the converted. The authors weaved a tale of heroic deeds, magical lands, mythical creatures and made it all believable. I laughed, cheered and cried. I really didn't want it to end.

Long epic

Entertaining and inventive but the characters lack depth and there seem to me to be some serious logic flaws.

A long tale without a point !

That's a lot of hours with imperceptible voices and a pointless yarn. I will never get these long, long hours back!
