For countless millennia, the dwarves of the have defended the stone gateway into Girdlegard. Many and varied foes have hurled themselves against the portal and died attempting to breach it. No man or beast has ever succeeded. Until now. . .

Abandoned as a child, Tungdil the blacksmith labors contentedly in the land of Ionandar, the only dwarf in a kingdom of men. Although he does not want for friends, Tungdil is very much aware that he is alone -- indeed, he has not so much as set eyes on another dwarf. But all that is about to change.

Sent out into the world to deliver a message and reacquaint himself with his people, the young foundling finds himself thrust into a battle for which he has not been trained. Not only his own safety, but the life of every man, woman and child in Girdlegard depends upon his ability to embrace his heritage. Although he has many unanswered questions, Tungdil is certain of one thing: no matter where he was raised, he is a true dwarf.

And no one has ever questioned the courage of the Dwarves.

Dwarf Adventures

Yes, 22 hours is a huge investment of time. For me, there were good and bad but all in all Im glad I did take the time.

The length was the drawback for me, but the storyline kept it together just enough for me to continue.

Spelling the names is a mystery for me so Ill say the main character and the twins are the most enjoyable. They are funny, brave and unique. Although, there are other characters I liked these were my favorites. The adventures and travels of these Dwarves with a renaissance feel were nice company for several days.

finally dwarves are center stage

I enjoyed the story. there was one moment that seemed​ out of character. if you know your betrayer, than why not kept a guarded eye on him. otherwise, the story was really good. the voice actor was top notch .

Keeps you going

Liked it very much. Lots of action and twists. Keeps you wondering what trick the author will use to save the hero. A lot of gore so probably not good for very young. No boring psychology.

I loved it! it was such a good story. there are not very many stories of dwarves, but this one is definitely a worthy story of note!

I was hooked from the first chapter.

Not something I normally read, but I found the entire series at a book store, on sale. I read about half of this book, then found it in here. Now I love this book and hope the other three are added to Audible.

Fantastic story

Great storyline, not many slow parts, great accents and different voices. I liked this book and Ill be getting the next one

Oink! Oink!

Fantastic book. I’ve spent a ton of time listening to audio books, and this last 30+ hours have been some of the best. Any fiction/fantasy buff should love this book. Great story, great performance, couldn’t ask for more!

Action packed fantasy!

I loved it. Well performed and written. Some parts of the story felt inconsequential, but overall this was fantastic and exciting. I found this because I played the video game, which I also recommend!

The best fantasy race given its proper spotlight!

I sincerely hope audible gets the next two books in this series in English. They will have my money in a heart beat.

great story, it didn't keep me guessing as to how it would end, but it did keep me guessing as to how it would get there. A few twists I didn't see coming. Give them a chance!
