He surfaced two years ago. Then he disappeared.
But Detective Angie Pallorino hasn't forgotten the violent rapist who left a distinctive calling card—crosses etched into the flesh of his victim's foreheads. When a comatose Jane Doe is found in a local cemetery, sexually assaulted, mutilated, and nearly drowned, Angie is struck by the eerie similarities to her earlier unsolved rapes. Could he be back?
Then the body of a drowned young woman, also bearing the marks of the serial rapist, floats up in the Gorge, and the hunt for a predator becomes a hunt for a killer. Assigned to the joint investigative task force, Angie is more than ready to prove that she has what it takes to break into the all-male homicide division. But her private life collides with her professional ambitions when she's introduced to her temporary partner, James Maddocks—a man she'd met just the night before in an intense, anonymous encounter.
Together, Angie and Maddocks agree to put that night behind them. But as their search for the killer intensifies, so does their mutual desire. And Angie's forays into the mind of a monster shake loose some unsettling secrets about her own past. How can she fight for the truth when it turns out her whole life is a lie?

A great story, but a bit on the raunchy side

What did you like best about The Drowned Girls? What did you like least?
The story was great, but two hours into it, I dropped it and went to another book because of the narrator. She sounded like valley girl meets Forest Gump and got on my last nerve. She had a tendency to drag out the end of each word and add syllables where they didn't belong. Grueling! I came back to the book and finished it, but don't think I'll be downloading book 2.The narrator is absolutely horrific!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Drowned Girls to be better than the print version?
This story was very well written but even with a story that's well written, the narrator could make it, a great audio book or a boring one. The narrator does a wonderful job at bringing this story to life. I felt like I was watching a suspense movie.Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character Angie Pallorino goes through some personal revelations which really brings this story together into a multidimensional plot. I love her passion in her work, she desires more than anything to save lives. I can't wait to listen to the 2nd book in this series, it's read by the same narrator!Any additional comments?
I love this story but just a WARNING, it's has some GRAPHIC SEX SCENES but not unpleasant if you don't mind that kind of thing.FANTASTIC CRIME INVESTIGATION STORY!!
