Acerca de esta escucha

Walter Gilman did not know when he moved into the Witch House that had been inhabited by old Keziah Mason, convicted of witchcraft in 1692 that his dreams would be haunted by Keziah and her evil friends. Somehow Keziah Mason escaped and disappeared from Salem Goal where she was being held. The goaler, or jailer went absolutely mad. Residents of the legend-haunted city of Arkham, claimd to see old Keziah Mason and the small white- fanged furry thing that accompanied Keziah, along with an eerie glow when they appeared. They carried Walter to somewhere in space or another universe where terrible things happened that would recur to Walter in his dreams. H.P. Lovecraft has weaved another masterpiece narrated by Mike Vendetti.

Mike Vendetti's narration suits the story except for one things I found absolutely cringe-worthy. Considering that this is a Lovecraft story I expect people reading it to have trouble pronouncing names like Nyarlathotep, Ghatanathoa, or Tsathoggua, for example, but I've heard many readings of Lovecraft stories and I don't think I ever heard any narrators mispronounce Necronomicon, especially to the tune of "Necrominocon" as Mike Vendetti did. Maybe I'm being too judgemental, but listening to Vendetti incorrectly pronouncing it multiple times through the story really grated on my nerves. Other than that single detail his performance was just fine.

Good but one minor complaint

Would you listen to The Dreams in the Witch House again? Why?

Yes, It's a good story.

What did you like best about this story?

Lovecraft's work is in my favorites bracket.

Any additional comments?

I like Mike Vendetti’s voice and I think he's a good narrator, I just don't think His style of narration was quite right for this story. Still, it's not an off putting job and I would listen again.

Good narrator, Just not a great fit.

Seriously Mike Vendetti? You're going to narrate HP Lovecraft and mispronouce NECRONOMICON?! I mean, I could have possibly forgiven the numerous other mispronunciations in the story (because there are many), but to pronounce Necronomicon as "Necro-minio-con" , multiple times, is unforgivable!

Holy Mispronunciation Batman!!

What didn’t you like about Mike Vendetti’s performance?

The narrator was unable to pronounce many common works like 'arabesque,' 'juxtapose,' and (importantly) 'Necronomicon.'

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

This is classic Lovecraft; it deserves a first rate performance

Narrator needs pronunciation coach
