Publisher's summary

In a world beyond the walls of sleep, Randolph Carter goes in search of an opulent and mysterious sunset city. First, he must go to Kadath, home of the Gods, where he hopes to be guided to the city of his dreams. No one has ever been to Kadath, and no one even knows how to get there – but that won't stop Carter from trying. In this masterful adaptation of Lovecraft's classic novella, I. N. J. Culbard captures Carter's journey through the dangerous and spectacular Dreamlands in beautiful, gripping detail.

Lovecraft's Best Story Adequately Read

Just as the title said, this is my favorite story by far from Lovecraft. The narrator is solid but there's not much feeling in it. The audiobook Necronomicon read by Richard Powers and various others is far better but it doesn't have this story. To be fair, the language is weird in Lovecraft and the characters don't have a lot of depth. But this book is worth it if you want a completely adequate and satisfactory audio version of Dream Quest.

Poor choice of narrator

The story is fantastic. The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is interesting and the Dreamlands have their own unique feel within the Mythos. The narrator for this book, however, is a very poor choice. He mispronounces large and unfamiliar words and gives a wooden performance. It feels as though I'm listening to a text-book being read.

Worth the $1.34 I paid for it

It is worth the $1.34 I paid for it. But it wouldn’t be worth much more than that. The story is a Lovecraft tale. All I wanted was to refresh my memory of the book. This amateur performance is all right once I got into the book and forgot about the reading-mostly. It did what I got it for.
