Publisher's Summary

Domestic diva Sophie Winston is getting into the Halloween spirit; her decorations for a community haunted house are so good, it's scary. Not to be outdone, rival domestic diva Natasha is throwing a spooktacular Halloween party at her house. But when Sophie arrives, she discovers one of Natasha's guests dead in a Halloween display and a pale, fanged partygoer fleeing the scene. Could the killer be a real vampire - the same one rumored to have lived in Sophie's haunted house back when it was a boardinghouse? Good thing a domestic diva never runs out of garlic.

If You are into Witches and Vampires

The writing and story are well written with good suspense, I just do not like stories involving witches, vampires and mediums calling in the dead. but for those who do, you should enjoy the story.

Perfect for cozy Halloween mystery

Perfect for a seasonal Halloween mystery! Not heavy, easy listening. Safe to listen to with or around tweens and teens.

Great story for a Halloween weekend!

I love Krista Davis and Hillary Huber as a great team for the Diva stories! So far I think this story was their best! I read this on 4-3-19 and it was still fun even though it was not Halloween. Lots of great tips for Halloween crafts, and activities, food. This story moves quickly and since tweens are involved it would be a great sleepover story , but read first as it would be for more mature readers as it is
scary and have you quessing to the end! one flaw..it did not address what happens to some of the characters so loose ends.

I CANNOT STOP READING THIS SERIES

THESE CHARACTERS ARE JUST GREAT. I AM NOT SURE HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE MARS VS WOLF DILEMMA, OR IF THERE EVEN IS A DILEMMA. I DO WISH I COULD JUST WHIP UP MEALS THE WAY SOPHIE DOES. REGARDLESS, I AM SO ENJOYING WATCHING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THESE CHARACTERS AND RELATIONSHIPS.

Any additional comments?

This book is a must read if you like cozy mysteries set around Halloween time. It is fun, has lots of Halloween decorating and recipes casually thrown in the story.

Lots of Potential, but...

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Sure, it was time well-spent. I always like giving authors a chance and it wasn't the worst book I've ever listened to. I love the fact that it's set around Halloween and the suggestions between chapters regarding party planning are very cute. The story just wasn't great. Too many kids screaming and the protagonist made too many ridiculous choices that continually put her in danger, or made her look like a floor mat. I kind of wanted her to get killed :)

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something non-fiction for work.

What about Hillary Huber’s performance did you like?

I thought she did a great job with making each character distinct. Sometimes, I listen to books where they actually have different actors for different voices, but that pulls you out of the story, I think.

Could you see The Diva Haunts the House being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It probably could be a TV series, but I wouldn't watch it unless the protagonist got smarter. No idea who the stars could be :)

Any additional comments?

I would definitely give this author another chance, but not with this series.
