Publisher's summary

She's over 50, overweight, and in way over her head!

It’s well known that working in movies can be cutthroat, but no one expected that to be taken literally.

It’s party time on board the Aurelia! On the LA to Hawaii leg, a Hollywood film crew are shooting scenes for a new action movie and Barbie has been given a bit-part role. It’s all great fun and Patricia isn’t surprised when her cute, blonde friend attracts the attention of the handsome A-lister male lead.

But when he is found murdered in the upper deck pool and the killer leaves a message saying Barbie is next, it falls to Patricia to work out who the killer is.

With her trusted butler, Jermaine, good friend, Barbie, and lame-duck Shane Sussmann, an odd-looking film extra she befriended, Patricia will have plenty of help as she unravels the truth. The prime suspect has an ironclad alibi though and there is definitely something going on with the film’s beautiful female lead.

Will there be more bodies? Will the new deputy captain be of assistance this time? Will Jermaine be able to serve tea at four o’clock?

It’s going to take more than luck to solve this one. Can she survive The Director’s Cut?

entertaining

Some of this played out like the keystone cops. Fumble after Fumble until you stumble on the villain. It was entertaining and I enjoyed it. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life .

Great story! Good narration.

This is my first book by this author in this series, though I am in love with his Blue Moon Investigations series.

I am eager to go back and read bks 1 and 2 to being myself up to date (in reverse, of course lol)

The characters are likeable and the mystery was interesting. I liked the background tidbits that set moods for me.

Narration was good, even, matched the mood I believe Higgs was going for with his writing.

I was given a free copy of this book, but I’m off to buy more out of pocket! He got me this way with Blue Moon, too! Lol

The Director's Cut: A Patricia Fisher Mystery

Well Patricia Fisher wasn't going to have anything to do with mysteries after the last one. Unfortunately her friend and fitness guru, Barbie, is now the object of a murderer. Did she see something that could implicate someone on the movie crew in the murder of the star? Once again Patricia's been given body guards although this time it's for Barbie. Now she's following leads right left and middle to find the person responsible and to save her friend!
A fantastic rendition by Katherine ANDERSON!

Fun Cuzy Mystery!

This is the third book in the A Patricia Fisher Mystery. This is a fun cozy mystery. I liked to follow Patricia's sleuthing! She is a wonderful character! No dull moments with her! The mystery unfolds at a great pace, and is filled with action, and twists and turns. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. This is a great addition to the Series. Katherine Anderson did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Entertaining

Not quite as predictable as the past stories. Very entertaining, wildly unrealistic. I do enjoy the series

Enjoyable British cozy mystery

The Director's Cut (Patricia Fisher Mystery Cruise Mysteries #3), my third read/listen from author Steve Higgs. Well written & enjoyable. Narrator Katherine Anderson’s added to the book's listening enjoyment. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Really Enjoy Patricia Fisher Mystery’s

This is about the ninth Patricia Fisher Mystery that I have listened to. They have a lot of turns and twists. The interaction the characters have with each other is written very well. I believe I will have to try some of the other books that Steve Higgs writes.

Laugh your sox off!

verbal-humor, situational-humor, amateur-sleuth, cruise-ship, murder-investigation

As always, this Mrs Fisher book is a real laugh riot as well as an interesting murder mystery. Patricia Fisher is over fifty, built like a dumpling, a good friend, and has been granted a whole year on the high class cruise ship because of previous successful sleuthing. In this episode a film crew is at the center of madness and mayhem and a member of the ship's crew is targeted for murder. Good fun and good sleuthing! Loved it!
Katherine Anderson does a marvelous job as narrator.

Fun and Funny

Although this 3rd book in the series is light and fun, it didn't quite live up the other (book 4 = The Couple in Cabin 2124) I listened to in terms of plot complexity and levity. Still, a fun time listening as our main protagonist, and friends, grow together with friendship and support. Definitely Recommended.

4 Stars

A cutthroat, conniving, hiding in the shadows kind of mystery filled with humor and entertainment.

Director’s Cut is the third installment of the Patricia Fisher mysteries. On this leg, from Los Angeles to Hawaii, a film crew hops on board bringing excitement and murder. Patty along with her faithful butler, Jermaine and her best friend on the ship Barbie, get caught up in a hot mess of Hollywood proportions.

Patty is such a wonderful character. Starting life over on an around the world cruise is definitely the way to do it. Patty is observant, resourceful and willing to bend the rules just a little bit. I love how she has befriended her Butler, Jermaine and allows him to dote on her even though she doesn’t feel she deserves it and Barbie. Her exercise obsessed friend, who lends a hand in many of the humorous parts of this novel. The characters are as lively as they are lovely. There’s lots of personality flowing right alongside the mystery of The Director’s Cut.

Director’s Cut is a fast paced, ever twisting plot, fun cozy read. The turns will keep readers guessing themselves throughout the entire read. Patty is smart and lively even if she jumps the gun from time to time. She may not be a professional when it comes to solving crime, however she does quite a good job at figuring it out. From the interaction to the characters down to the who done it, The Director’s Cut Will keep you fully entertained. I had the pleasure of enjoying the Director’s Cut as an audiobook. Narrator Katherine Anderson is amazing. She brings Patty to life with flair and charisma. Ms. Anderson's performance earned an extra star on my review of this title.
