Born and raised in St. Claire, Lindsay Juneau's life was seemingly full raising a six-year-old daughter and caring for her widowed mother. Of course, things aren't always what they seem, and the newest resident of St. Claire isn't buying the ruse. Veterinarian Nicole Allen is looking for something different. She finds it in St. Claire with its hypochondriac rabbits, shotgun-toting shut-ins, and eclectic mix of people. The most alluring, though, is a woman who's also looking for something different.

Hannah Martin has an unusual job: she's a professional cuddler. While she has a big heart for her clients, she hasn't found someone special to snuggle up to in her personal life. Winter Sullivan isn't looking for love. She's an aloof workaholic who's built walls of ice around herself. Betrayed and angry, she trades her meekness for a sword and embarks on a quest for vengeance that will lead her straight into the arms of the legendary Captain Maria Welles. Captain of the famed pirate ship, the Wicked Fate, Maria is every bit as treacherous and bloodthirsty as they say. She has her own vendetta and practically jumps at the chance to trick Emilia into joining her crew.

Above all, she has an unquenchable survival instinct. Surely a fleeting entanglement with one Audrey Avens, a bright, young, rising star in her company, won't bring down the Wicked Queen of Tinseltown. Or will it? She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Brooke Watson has known Taylor for her entire life, and lifelong knowledge means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive.

Heart Wrenching Novel
I love lesbian period pieces so was excited when I found this book. I almost wish I would have waited to read the book. I don't say that due to it being a bad book the storyline was fantastic, I say that as there is very little happiness in this book. I cried so much reading the horrible things in this book and was really taken by the amount of violence written by this author. Being a woman I am se sensitive to rape scenes as I am sure many others are. I understand why the scenes called for the violence I just wish there was not so much detail with the rape portions. The premise of this book was a good one but this book could do with a lot more happiness. I felt at the end of the book the writer had had enough and just finished it as quickly as possible. Although the ending was sweet give us a few chapters of pure happiness to help relieve all of the sadness. I could not stop reading this book as I had to find laughter and happiness somewhere but if there was a scene with happiness it just a sentence or two. Meanwhile the details of what happened when she was 10 were not told once but two times, i actually skipped it the second time due to the incredible sadness. I don't understand why it was so important to the writer to have such horrible things done to women in this book. This is a work of fiction and it did not have to be so graphic, I could understand if it a true story and those were actual details but it was not. I wish I had some great way to discuss how amazing this book was but I am having a hard time but here goes: I am an avid reader of lesbian novels and as far as the storyline goes this book had it all, there is no doubt that the author is an experienced writer. The narrator was good as well with the different characters in the book so that is another thumbs up! The ONLY reason I only gave 3 stars was due to the graphic nature of the awful scenes in the book. It was simply to much for me to handle but I am just one person. If you are not sensitive to violence than you MUST get this book, but if you are sensitive to such scene than I would still get the book and forward past thise scenes.
Hope this review helps others if they decide if they want to read this book or not. I could not be anymore honest, I cried a lot while reading this book due to it's sadness but it is possible menopause made it worse..lol

Beautiful story
Wow. I’m not sure what I expected but this book took me much further than I thought it would. The first chapters were difficult to listen to, as the beginning of the story is very violent and painful but it has to be for Jesse to become who she is. Nothing is gratuitous. I’m glad I kept going. Also, the narrator’s voices for the various characters were really great.

Much Needed !
I adored this book in every way. The characters and story were so deeply rooted in humanity, it was easy to believably slip into the world Wilson had created. Warmth, grit, tragedy, and love radiated from every page. I needed this story exactly when it came into my life, I needed it 10 years ago, and I foresee it staying a staple/ re-read in my collection for the next several decades. This book stands alone as one of the— if not THE— greatest western and wlw stories out there. I would highly recommend.

Wow!
Wow! I really loved this book!
As much as I cringed with the assault on the family, near the beginning, and wish it had less detail, it could have been a lot worse. And unlike certain authors, it wasn’t done for entertainment value.
The developing relationship between the two main characters, and how they resolve their “I’ve never considered being attracted to a woman before,” both in different ways, was realistic.
The mother-figure/child relationship with Frieda and Jessica was neat to read about, as well.

Equally as good as the the book!
Let me start by saying I loved the narration of this book by Jennifer Nicole Stang. I felt she brought each individual characters to life. Because of this, i was able to easily listen and get lost into the story. It never once felt like I was being read to...
Now as for the story itself, I’ve read all 3 books in this trilogy. Having these same characters come to life in audiobook was just as good. Each characters was depicted just as I imagined from when I read the books. Now I don’t want to give anything away from this book, but I will put a disclaimer... There our some ruff scenes (rape, murder) in the beginning of this book. I believe it was necessary for this story and it’s understanding of why the main characters became who she is. But for some it may trigger. Please don’t let that deter you from listening to this book!
For those of you who’ve read the books, you won’t be disappointed. 5⭐️ I definitely recommend giving this one a listen.

Flood waters aren't the only dangerous current in the Rockies—Riley Robinson's attraction to the just-passing-through Ana Potrero is immediate and mutual. Some wine, some laughs, some passion—and no strings. Perfect, right? When Ana proves to be far more complicated, amusing, and appealing than one night could ever fully explore, Riley can't believe she let Ana slip through her fingers. When Leora Ebersole sees the small plane crash in her Old Order Mennonite community, she has no idea it's a foreshadowing of things to come. Soon after the young pilot, Moses Hughes, regains consciousness, they realize his instruments were destroyed by the same power outage that killed the electricity at the community store, where Englischers are stranded with dead cell phones and cars that won't start.
