Publisher's Summary

A play-by-play of the political forces and media culture that vilified and ultimately brought down Hillary Clinton during her 2016 Presidential campaign. The Destruction of Hillary Clinton is an answer to the question many have been asking: how did an extraordinarily well-qualified, experienced, and admired candidate - whose victory would have been as historic as Barack Obama's - come to be seen as a tool of the establishment, a chronic liar, and a talentless politician?

In this masterful narrative of the 2016 campaign year and the events that led up to it, Susan Bordo unpacks the right's assault on Clinton and her reputation, the way the left provoked suspicion and indifference among the youth vote, and the media's unprecedented influence.

Urgent, insightful, and engrossing, The Destruction of Hillary Clinton is an essential guide to understanding the most controversial presidential election in American history.

Well done and worth reading

If you could sum up The Destruction of Hillary Clinton in three words, what would they be?

Painful, Accurate, Timely

What other book might you compare The Destruction of Hillary Clinton to and why?

The Handmaid's Tale is a good comparable read because it is the future, past and present for many women living in the United States and the "destruction" that we saw has far reaching implications for those who don't fit into one societal norm of gendered behavior. .

Any additional comments?

This was a great listen, although very difficult to re-visit. I appreciated Bordo's careful analysis and Huber's mispronunciation of "Sarandon." It is not an easy book because it reaffirms that many of us do not have any hope and that in my lifetime, we will not see any progressive president elected by the US. I hope one day Sanders' supporters will try to understand that you cannot just promise free tuition and it will happen; that Sanders' invoked old leftists tactics to divide women from "real progressive issues" and to imply white women are the establishment (without recognizing that these women are also battered, killed, subjected to violence and harassment, and no recourse in the courts if raped. The book is sad and sobering and also terrifying.

Very well written

I really enjoyed this book, mostly from the view point from a woman almost my age. I have felt everyone of these situation that happened to Hillary in my adult business life. Women rights and equality is a fight we are still battling though it might have a different face and tactic even from those who believe they are progressive. We have to continue educating those individuals who do not understand, if by want or ignorance.
Thank you for writing this book.

Excellent Analysis

This wonderful book fully explores the role of the media in creating, deploying and perpetuating a deeply skewed vision of Hillary Clinton, one which bore no relation to the actual Hillary Clinton. And it shows how that skewed vision cost us, the American people, a Presidency of warmth, strength and care.

Absolute MUST READ!

I don’t care if you identify with the right, left, center, or otherwise, this book addresses issues we should ALL be mindful of regarding the affects of disinformation, & the media’s influential role in the development of the public’s consciousness. The media’s role is a crucial, bipartisan issue demanding our attention & criticism; as Americans, we must stand up & demand reliable, accurate information from all of our media sources if we have any hope of stabilizing & uniting our nation.

Too much whining

I wish I had not purchased this Audio. It was one excuse after another why HRC didn't win. Shattered was a much better book.

And then there was Hilary!

This was a clear and concise explanation of what happened, when it happened and why did it happen. We all expected a fair and untethered election....it was neither. It was an illegitimate election of a very poor businessman, but a conman, running for the highest office in the world with the help of Russia and our US Press and of course, the FBI (who refused to comment on the ongoing Russia investigation of the president but who did not mind commenting on the ongoing investigation of Hillary).
I never thought I would live to see the day when our Congress would let the Russians decide who would be our president. Yes, Hillary made a few mistakes....but the truth is stranger than fiction. If we survive this administration we can never let this happen again!

I wish Hillary had someone else read it to us, who anger was both a distraction and annoyance, although I can fully understand all of her emotions.

Did Hillary write this?

This entire book was nothing but excuses and rationalizations for why Hillary lost the election.
The only positive thing I can say about this audiobook is that it gives us great insight into the modern liberal mindset. This mindset is a cancer to capitalism, freedom, and the American way.
The author is completely disconnected from reality and is incapable of understanding why middle-america had no interest in having Hillary as President of the United States. It wasn't about sexism, a biased media, or any social justice non-sense. Americans were simply tired of the status quo and wanted change. Donald Trump represented that change for average middle class Americans. Love him or hate him that is why he won.
At no point during this entire book does the author even consider the possibility that Hillary Clinton may not have been the right candidate for the Democratic Party. Liberal elitists simply assumed that Hillary was going to be the next president of the United States because as they all said, "it was her turn". This alienated a lot of people and this book does not address that at all.
I would think that the author of this book would have spent more time focusing on Hillary's strengths and the things that would make her a good president but rather the author chose to complain and make excuses throughout the entire book.

100% shameless pro Clinton propaganda

Defiance for Clinton this was the worst example of a pro Clinton slams that ignores the facts that Hillary was the most flood candidate in history of the presidency. And absolutely one-sided fantasy
