Publisher's summary

A deputy bent on finding the truth and the Enforcer whose job it is to stop him....

Nothing is more important to Marcus Rivera than protecting his pack, so he doesn't understand why he has the sudden urge to tell a nosy human deputy things he shouldn't. Marcus follows the rules. Always. But something about Robson's scent has him tempted to break them.

The gorgeous red-head Deputy Robson Medina has been following has a secret. He just knows it, and he won't stop looking until he finds out everything he can about the alluring man. Even if the idea of Marcus being a criminal seems less and less likely the more Robson learns.

As the tension between them continues to grow, it stokes a fire inside Marcus he's never felt before. One that's driving him to trust his wolf's instincts and release the stranglehold Marcus has always had on his control. But when Robson gets a painful glimpse of the magical world Marcus lives in, they have to decide how much they're willing to risk to have it all.

Contains mature themes.

So sweet

I really enjoyed this book more than I thought. In the previous books I wasn’t pulled toward Marcus like the other characters but that changed pretty quickly. His sweet and loyal demeanor was a breath of fresh air.

I really could listen to Kirt Graves all day. His narration was perfect as always.

SNOOZE FEST

Even the 2nd book wasn't this boring. Major snooze fest on this one. How the heck is his character so darn naive and ignorant of darn near.....EVERYTHING?! The relationship isn't really felt except for a word or two here and there throughout the book. I barely made it to the end! This could've been such a better story!

Shifter & human

This is book 3 of Kiki Clark’s Kincaid Pack series. While each book covers a couple’s/poly’s romantic arc – there’s an ongoing mystery/suspense that weaves through the books. As such, these should be enjoyed in order starting with The Alpha and his King. This review may contain spoilers to earlier books.

2023 Update: I’ve listened to this numerous times and the interesting thing is that what I considered negatives my first time through are some of my favorite parts now. This has quickly become my favorite of the entire series. I’ve tweaked my review a bit to reflect that.

I liked Marcus & Robson and that the pacing of their relationship was slower and took time to build. Robson being human and the dynamic between the two was unique. They had a lot of similarities, but personality and approach to situations were different. There were also a lot of hilarious or emotional parts due to relatable misunderstandings when someone who hasn’t lived in the human world is dating someone who just learned that shifters exist. I was often laughing out loud or completely in tears.

I continue to appreciate that while Clark uses a “fated mate” concept – there’s no question that these couples get to know and love each other. Marcus & Robson also get their own unique mating. 🔥🔥🔥

I’m really looking forward to The Hunter & His Mates. Yes, its MMM – but mostly I’m really invested in each of the characters individually and am looking forward to their HEA. The biggest question is whether I can wait for audio…

Narration:
Because Kirt Graves continues to do an amazing job. This series is totally bingeable. All the characters get unique voices and they stay consistent throughout the series. I don’t know how he does it because this is a huge group – various genders, accents, personalities, emotions and its as if it were all recorded at one time or with multiple actors. I’m loving his work and am looking forward to more of this series.

A little slow in the beginning but give it a chanc

Once Marcus and Robson come together it’s so hot and interesting you won’t be able to stop listening. I love human and shifter matings. With this couple the human part is explained more. Everything thing is different for each species experiencing that pull they feel. It’s very interesting how it’s explained. I also like the mystery of the Council secrets. I can’t wait to find out more.

Kirt Graves did an awesome job. I love listening to him.

Kiki Clark Is Great!

I love the Kincaid Pack - I fell in love with these guys since the get go ❤️❤️

The storyline is consistent, as well as the characters and I love the fact that humans get to be fated mates too!

I really enjoyed Marcus and Robson’s story - some really ‘feels’ moments which endears and makes you empathise with Marcus especially.

Excellently narrated as expected 😁

Here’s to more in the near future! 🤞

Definitely 5🌟 worthy!! 🥰🥰🥰

Nice story

This was a nice story but not a lot happened. I think the second book in the series had more action mixed with the relationship development, from what I remember. Not so much action in this one so it feels like it’s a filler before the next one. I did like the relationship in this story. From the setup of characters and storyline, I’m really looking forward to the next book!

Oh Marcus!!

Poor, sweet Marcus, he just about broke my heart with his negative self talk and his desire to be "enough" for everyone around him. He has such a big heart, it was wonderful to see him find his mate!!

I liked Kiki's approach to mating a human and it will be interesting to see what extra bonuses might stick around for Robson now he's mated to a shifter.

The overarching story just keeps getting better while not feeling like it's dragging, but I need to know more lol. I'm hooked!!!
