Publisher's Summary

In The Devil Duke, the beautiful but scheming baroness will stop at nothing to keep her man from falling for his new waifish house guest, to no avail. We catch up with the jilted aristocrat in The Demon Duchess.

Abigail Sutton does not take kindly to being dumped. Desperation leads her to seek comfort in the arms of her surly horse trainer, the mysterious Jack Johnson from America. A night of fleeting passion results in a life-altering “predicament”. Now, the baroness finds herself fighting for the attentions of an entirely different sort of man - a man who is much more than he seems - a man who might just offer her the family she’s never had. That is, if she can prove to him she is not just a pampered pain in the ass.

Her pursuit of the handsome but stubborn drifter lands the baroness in Montana of all places, where she will learn plenty of new skills - rope-tying and lasso-tossing, just to name two. Many surprises are in store for the newly thawed ice queen.

Heartbreak over one man will lead to true love with another....

Great Continuation of Series

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so couldn't wait to start the next one. I enjoyed this installment too, but I think the first one set such a high standard that I liked it quite a bit more. This book revisits some of the characters from the first book, but they essentially switch roles; those that were primary become secondary and those that were secondary become primary. And of course, new characters are added.

This book had a bit of a twist that I won’t spoil here, but it was refreshing as the Baroness was not one of my favorite people and it was nice to see her one upped a bit. Because of the way she acted in the first novel, I found myself not as emotionally tied to this story as I was to the first. I did come to like the characters a lot more by the end.

In all, it is a great addition to the series and I hope Ms. Bowen continues with additional characters and stories. I can think of a few that could certainly be included in a future book.

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Loved this story!

Abigail was the typical, self centered English Duchess. She was in a long time affair with her childhood friend , Trevor. She expected to marry him one day, but to her surprise he ended up marrying an American. She got drunk at the reception, took off and ended up going to the stable. There she met Jack/John Johnson, the American horse trainer. ..She was so drunk, she ended up having a roll in the hay with him. He was coarse, opinionated, brash. She was attracted to him with his good looks, but their personalities collided. Abigail found out from that she ended up pregnant..She didnt know how to get in touch with him. Until one day he returned to England for a horse auction. There he sees Abigail in the crowd knowing immediately shes with child. They do end up.married just for the sake of their baby.
They constant clash. Jack doesnt like to stay in one place too long. He always like to wander! will Abigail be able to tame him and want to stay home?. Can Jack change Abigails aristocratic ways to accept the changes needed when she moves to his Montana ranch with their child. This is a wonderful story, funny at times, very emotional. Virginia Ferguson excellent narration brought this story to life! I received this audio book free in exchange for an honest review.

Love always wins in the end

I was a little skeptical with this book as I didn’t like Jack or Abigail. Jack was a real jerk and Abigail is still a spoiled duchess. But their love story won me over.

Demons

This is a great story. A secret millionnaire cowboy, and a rejected duchess. The most unlikely couple yet they have a great story. I enjoyed the nartors voice, and loved the accents.

I enjoyed this story so much, I am reading The Devil Duke. I love this series.

Difficult relationship dynamics but good book

This is the second book in the series but I didn't read the first one (I received the audiobook for an unbiased review and borrowed the book on KU to supplement the audio)

The book features a very harsh type of relationship. The hero Jack Johnson and Abigail, the baroness, have a very antagonistic relationship from the beginning, both giving and taking a bit of venom. Perhaps it’s supposed to reflect a very passionate relationship but does take a bit of getting used to, especially given how vocally aggressive each are towards the other. (many insults, etc) Initially, it was pretty funny, especially during their first encounter but I have to say that Jack’s vitriol got a little frustrating as the book went on. Jack has an awful disposition throughout most of the book. He’s often jealous, accusatory and he attacks verbally.

Abigail has very low self esteem which actually when paired with Jack’s insults made it especially problematic; I prefer to have a stronger female character, one who gives as well as she takes, especially with such a strong antagonistic male character. She shows some moments of strength and I do cheer a bit during those times!

I’m not a huge fan of a mean hero, even if he redeems himself at the end and, truthfully, i didn't actually think he fully redeems himself anyway. I think it’s important to balance a sharp personality with some softness. It seems like for Abigail, his gorgeous exterior made up for his poor personality, which isn't a great reason to fall in love.

I did love the way the author wrote- she has a great way of describing the environment that pulls the reader in. I just hope that there are some nicer heroes in the making!

The narrator had such a beautiful voice (perfect accent) and played the Baroness especially well. I think she wasn't as great as the male character but still she did a great job delineating between the different characters.

This one had me hooked.

I thought it was a little slow in the beginning bu it wasn't really it was just laying down the backdrop. The baroness seems like a shallow stuck up person but she really isn't, she's someone who's never been allowed to find herself and turns out to be a great person. Jack is a hard headed insecure person who finds he really wants what he's been running from forever. and my favorite character... DUCKIE!
I would definitely listen to again for sure. I thought the narrator did a good job with th American accent.

Love overcomes all

I have to say I have very recently become a fan if Tessa’s work. This story was so precious and perfect. It was like redemption for the broken hearted and those of no trust. I absolutely loved the the journey the duchess went through to truly find herself and find her true worth when it comes to love. And Ducky... I loved her quacking. So precious and utterly adorable. Love love loved this story.

Excellent Audible book

I received a free copy of this Audible book and voluntarily wrote an honest review. Abigail is a rich spoiled yet unhappy woman. In this story we see her become the woman that she really is and not what society dictates. John seems to be a rugged cowboy, but when faced with obstacles, he takes flight. The author does an excellent job of character development. One really wants to shake John and tell him to get over his past and take charge of his future. Thank goodness Abigail loves him enough to do this for him, but can she get through to him? The secondary characters in this story also play very important supporting roles. The narrator does an excellent job of telling us this amazing journey. I highly recommend this Audible book.

A duchess of a listen

Book 2 in the series but it can be listened as a stand-alone . You see the characters in book 1 and this is their story. Tessa wrote this story in 2 continents . It takes a female that is lost and hurt and betrayed that is seeking confirmation about her worth . Heroine is Abigail . Hero is is Jack /John .
Abigail goes to see John for a night of passion .Abigail feels let down and betrayed and she sets out to feel like she’s worth something. John /Jack gives her that feeling. As Abigail follows John she ends up in Montana. While in Montana Abigail has to lean a new way of life , one that she’s not use to. The life is totally different thane what’s she’s use to .

Virginias voice was perfect for the story . Her voice was strong and clear. Her voice for the characters were perfect

Who doesn't want a second chance at love

what a great story, not read many second chance romances, but this ticked all the boxes for me, 2 different worlds colliding and then the chemistry between the two leading characters was hot!!..add to that the hilarious banter between them, and you have a hell of an audiobook

I just love Cowboys

As with The Devil Duke, I loved the story as written by Tessa Bowen and the narration of Virginia Ferguson. Give me British accents and an American Cowboy and I know that I am set for a good listen.

The story included a few surprises which made this even better.

will be listening to more by Tessa and Virginia.

Baroness Abigail Sutton and John Jackson

The writing is done very well, the characters are complex, and the situations they end up in after one night. Two people running from their own demons. Overall, it was a unique read that touches upon difficult situations and inspires strength, forgiveness and love. There are a lot of surprises in this wonderful story. This book has a lot of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The narrator (Virginia Farguson) does a fabulous job with this beautiful story. She has a marvelous voice and does a brilliant British accent.
I enjoyed listening to this book and I definitely recommend this book!

Great Story! Great Narration!

The Demon Duchess by Tessa Bowen pulled me in immediately. Baroness Abigail came across much kinder in this book than in the Devil Duke. I enjoyed her banter with Jack Johnson aka John Jackson. This story is full of unexpected turns, it has incredible imagery, and a wonderful storyline. Virginia Ferguson performs this book with distinguishable voices for the various characters and brings them to life. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

:)

A nice continuation of the series. Book one left the duchess heart broken and I think a little lost. I was really glad she came into herself more in this book. For a adult she has a childlike wonder about her, while being loyal and jaded at the same time. She’s a complex one. I could predict somethings, but it didn’t take away anything from the story. The narration was good except for one thing, the male voices. They didn’t sound anything like I’d pictured in my head. To me they sounded slurry, almost as if ones trying to go for a drunk male voice. I’m really glad this couple found their HEA.

Disappointing

I found myself irritated a lot with this book. Jack/John was a nasty man to Abigail....all the time. He criticised her every chance he got to the point of being callous and hurtful. I felt sorry for Abby but also mad at her for not sticking up for herself. I couldn’t enjoy the book for these reasons, sorry but I prefer my woman stronger and my men nicer.
