Kyle Riggs sits uneasily upon Earth’s throne. He’s liberated his homeworld from a tyrant, only to replace him. In The Dead Sun, the ninth book of the Star Force Series, the Great War between life and the machines reaches its final chapter. Both sides have new technology and expanded industrial bases. Star Force and the machines attempt to exterminate one another in a final, glorious conflict. Along the way, Riggs finally learns who his real friends and enemies are.

The Dead Sun concludes The Star Force series but don’t worry – we’ve got plenty more military sci-fi action from best-selling author B.V. Larson. Check out Steel World, book 1 in B.V. Larson’s new Undying Mercenaries series.©2013 B. V. Larson (P)2014 Audible Inc.

This is one of my favourite books in this series. As usual lots of action , events, and death, but lots of hard decisions to make too.

I have enjoyed this book all the way through, and its ending was hard and it wasn't easy , but i have found it to be really good.

I wonder whats going to happen next!!

End Of An Era

As with all the Star Force books, I devoured this one too. This has been a great series and I have really enjoyed it. I'm going to miss Riggs and his crazy robot. I liked this book a little more than the others. The others got a little bit monotonous. A few of them seemed like I was reading "1000 Ways to Use Nanites" and that got a little old, but I still enjoyed them. This one was not like that. It was fast paced and seemed better balanced. I recommend this book and series to any one that craves military sci-fi.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Very satisfying series finale. Would definitely recommend the series. I wish we would have gotten more information about what Marvin really is.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dead Sun?

The author has create a viable alternate universe. I can't believe he's just going to walk away from it.

Excellent Series Finale

With each Star force book I always look forward to where B.V. Larson takes the journey. This book did not disappoint, and was a solid end to the main line story that I have greatly enjoyed.

Not what I expected

Would you consider the audio edition of The Dead Sun to be better than the print version?

I consider ANY audiobook with a good narrator to be better than a print book, since I have a long commute. Mark Boyett *IS* the voice of Star Force, and his narration helped make the series great for me

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kyle Riggs is definitely my favorite, though Marvin grew on me big-time as the series went on. Kyle is a total bad-ass because he had to be, and embraced his responsibility to the extreme. The indifferent reasoning of Marvin, being an AI, and the interchanges between him and Riggs were really some of my favorite parts of the book.

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

What can I say? His range of inflection made it very clear who was speaking, and he did in a consistent enough manner to allow one to truly identify each character. He also did an outstanding job assuming personalities for each character and feeding that into his performance such that you felt you really knew these people. In short, he brought these characters alive better than any movie could have.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I actually felt bad for the machines in the end. Their defeat was total and they really wanted to preserve their existence. Then to deal the Blues such a decisive preemptive strike really struck me as incredibly sad, but imminently necessary.

Any additional comments?

I thought the previous book jumped the shark a bit with the Crowe/cyborg thing, but this final booked redeemed it. While I hate to see it end, it was ready to be finished. I will miss waiting for the next installment with intense anticipation.
