Thoroughly Enjoyed this Book

I found this book to be both entertaining & thought provoking. I rarely recommend books since tastes vary so much but I plan to recommend this one to family and friends.

An excellent, engaging story.,

All of the characters, whether real or fictitious, seemed like actual, three-dimensional people rather dry characters

Rough. I really tried…started it over at least 3 times trying to give it a chance…not for me

More documentary than novel

What a slog. Started off with promise but so very boring like a documentary, that I gave up about 2/3rds in. I rarely quit a book but simply could not go on!

Some Good Stuff but Dull Overall

This is a really interesting topic. I would have liked it better as either a pure historical examination or as a novel. The structure of having somebody in the hospital doing research while he is recuperating getting a series of exposition dumps from his friends and family gets in the way of either being an immersive story or as a piece of history. Author did a lot of good research for this though.
