Why does she keep wishing she'd said YES? Erin Reynolds is already the perfect corporate secretary and personal assistant, so when her boss, Slater Livingstone, suggests they make their arrangement permanent through a marriage of convenience, the idea seems perfectly sensible - to him. Erin, on the other hand, thinks his offer is ludicrous... but the moment she turns him down, she can think of nothing but Slater.

Narration was ok. A little odd occasionally, giving the hero a slow almost drawl.
I don’t think the sex is ‘seen’, if it was it was unmemorable.

Plot is pretty predictable: Boss/employee romance. Platonic marriage of convenience. Terrible misunderstandings. Breakup. Confession of love. Happy ending. It's your general Harlequin Romance. But hey - I like the formula.
I put up with the narrator because I like this story so much. But I would have to say that she is one of the worst narrators I've ever heard. I almost turned the story off. And I'm not normally picky at all about my narrators, but this one bothered me because:
1. I constantly remembered she was female (Good narrators are talented enough to make you forget their gender)
2. She seemed whiny, especially during the female dialogue. She may have preconceived notions of how men and women sound. See #3.
3. She seemed like she was overacting, especially in the sections where she was reading the male dialogue. Almost like she had this "idea" of how a sexy man "should" sound. But "he" just sounded like he was trying too hard to be casual or sexy. Totally goofy and unlikable as a hero due to the narration.
If this was my first experience with The Corporate Wife or Leigh Michaels, I'd be sure never to read/listen to another. I was considering another Leigh Michaels title, but so many are read by this same narrator. Not sure I can handle it again.
NOT REALLY RELATED TO MY REVIEW, BUT I"M THROWING IT IN ANYWAY
Looking for a great narrator? Try:
George Guidall
Davina Porter
Barbara Rosenblat
They are some of the best.

This is flat out standard Harlequin with substandard narration. But it was clean (married sex behind closed doors) and I enjoyed it, so I rounded up.
Clean option for fans of marrying the boss books
