Interesting

An interesting mix of government documents, witness accounts of sightings, and stories of confirmed hoaxes. Delivered by the smooth, measured voice of Jack Chekijian, this informational overload is easily digested, and very interesting and informative. I've always found UFO sightings fascinating (big fan of the X-files) and found this huge collection of stories highly satisfying. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, but I will likely listen to this one again.

The Coming of the Saucers was one of the most compelling stories I've ever listened to. Hearing Kenneth Arnold's story through audio really brought it to life. The timeline of the events that took place and the people involved was just plain spooky. It is indeed breathtaking. This IS where it all started and while some may or may not be familiar with Kenneth Arnold, I am and this story blew me away. It was scary in a 'get your tin foil hat on' kind of way.

Then there are the numerous sightings and reporting of unidentified flying objects or UFO's across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico and all over the world that boggle the mind. As a person that sometimes listens to a late night radio talk show primarily based on the subject of UFO's and other mystifying events and happenings, I absolutely loved this edge of your seat audiobook. I definitely recommend listening to this one.

About the narrator: Jack Chekijian is a terrific voice actor. I love listening to him. He relayed this story perfectly. It was as if Kenneth Arnold was telling the story himself. Jack Chekijian speaks clearly and always uses correct pronunciation of places and names. Overall, he made this a great and interesting listening experience.

The Coming of the Saucers is a supposed 1st hand account of saucer sightings from the very first sighting to the latest. Jack Chekijian does a wonderful job narrating this account.It was fun to listen to.

Kenneth Arnold is here and elsewhere documented to be the first reliable person to have reported sighting a group of unknown flying discs in 1947. There were several other men as well, and the influx of charlatans was incredibly prompt. Arnold's first hand experiences with other pilots, a pair of inventive charlatans, US military intelligence, and the paparazzi comprise the first part of the book.
The rest of the book is written by Raymond Palmer, and does detail other legitimate sightings from around the world as well as some more notable hoaxes. Most importantly, however, he quotes extensively from a US government document written in 1949 as the results of Project Saucer.
Consider this as a historical thinkpiece. While technology of the time was relatively primitive, it was also less dramatically prone to spectacular tampering. Government doublespeak has only gotten more proficient in obfuscation. The general public continues to be manipulated by the media.
Narrator Jack demonstrates his talents once again. With clear speech and a deliberate pace, he becomes the voice of Kenneth Arnold and then calmly relates the information provided by Raymond Palmer.

A highly entertaining subject...

I received this book as a gift for the purpose of me reading and reviewing it. This book was very entertaining to say the least. I really enjoy discussions and book when it comes to UFO sightings. Whether fact or fiction the UFO world is one exciting place. It is scary, yet fascinating at the same time! This book discusses most, but not all documented sightings of UFO as far back as in the fifties. I was even tickled to hear the sighting in Sandwich , Illinois was even in it. Sandwich is near my hometown.

The authors, Kenneth Arnold and Raymond Palmer did a superb job with their accounting's and discussions of UFO , even having seen many themselves. What an awesome subject for an audio book! The narrator Jack Chekijian did a great job delivering this info to us in such a way as to not lose us in the stories. It was quite fascinating!

Facinating Story

Had not heard of this audiobook before I stumbled upon what was to be a journey through time in nostalgia where you get to know strong personalities who reflect well on the present and the phenomenon. The book is mysterious but realistic and is the best I have read in the genre since The Mothman Prophecies
