did anyone else see Jerry Smith from rick and morty when Calvin spoke? I dont know if the author meant for me to hate him but if so they did a great job. the narrator wasnt my favorite, pretty monotone with hardly any inflection

Loved the story did not like the 2nd narrator

Holy Toledo! Who thought it was a good idea to have an AI read the second part? The reader lacked intonation, humanity, and the ability to really read the story at times sounded mechanical. I almost stopped listening it was so bad. It got better at the end but that person is not a good narrator. On the flip side I really really liked the first narrator!

OK story, terrible reading

I don't usually look at reviews before buying a book but I wish I had on this one. The story is interesting enough but there's way too much guilt-driven agony by the protagonist--way, way too much. She sees hundreds of death yet agonizes again and again for her one killing. I am in compliance with all the reviews I've read today, that the reading is mechanical and English is not the reader's primary language. The book was read word-by-word (including a great number of mispronunciations (as in, "mis-pronoun-ciation") and never as a sentence. There was no push and pull in a sentence, no ebb and flow, no start at the beginning and drive to the end; it was word-by-word. How can that be? What were they thinking?

I have hundreds of books in my library and this is the first time I've stopped to write a review even though doing so does not return the 25+ hours of listening time.

The reading sounded like a robot who did not speak English as a first language. Too many mispronunciations. I did like that the stories were grouped together.

Physically painful!

The first book was a cookie cutter dystopian novel. Not good but not bad. The second book was a tie between ridiculously written and ridiculously read. So very sorry I wasted my money!!

Very Disappointed

This is my first review, after nearly 100 titles in my library. I feel compelled to warn others to not waste their time with this amateurish attempt. It seems that the genre is so popular that publishers are willing to print anything figuring that people will be stupid enough to buy it. (I guess they are right, I did). I will offer some positivity, very little profanities are used and thee isn’t graphic violence like in many of the genre. Beyond that, there is not much to appreciate. The stories are simplistic, unrealistic, without depth. The character development is two dimensional and unimaginative. The scenario is also very poorly developed and implausible. Even the reading is lifeless, barely any emotion is conveyed. Editing is atrocious, with numerous gaffes in sentence structure, word choice and even pronunciation!! I enjoy long reads, and listened to the whole thing, my mistake. Don’t make the same one!

Narrator is absolutely horrid. terrible pronunciation and the intonation of a foreign born Alexa.

This story is idiocracy post EMP.

A what if story. what if stupid lovable criminals found their way to a town full of idiots after an EMP? This is that rare post-apocalyptic book that has no people with any skills or common sense. Only idiots who can't figure out what to do next, even when Common Sense would give you a plethora of options.
I felt my IQ dropping as I listened to this book.
Tedious would describe the second set of books in this COLLECTION. when you think that the individual characters could not with any less intelligence or common sense the next chapter will prove you wrong.

Great story

A few mispronounced words like qualudes, for example. But enjoyable nonetheless. Would definitely recommend forthisgenre
