I do not agree with the books perception of the LGBTQ community.

This book reminds me a lot of the Left Behind Series, but with a bit of PNR tied in. It's not bad and I can't leave a bad review just because I don't agree with its portrayal. Overall it is written okay although it spends a lot of time, in my opinion, in the underbelly of Hell.

I jumped into this series on this book.

This is book 4 in a series, It is NOT a stand-alone. If you start here, you'll feel lost for half the book. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of. The story feels very 'epic' and reading (listening) from the beginning of the series, I have no doubt I would have felt totally invested and not lost at all.

A fast-paced adventure, and main characters that you can relate to. Shale has the expected fears and hopes of a high school student, with the added bonus of having actually met Jesus face to face, and therefore has more faith to overcome her fears. She learns the importance of asking questions because things aren't always as they appear.

There were times when I was reminded of This Present Darkness, the Screwtape Letters, and even the Left Behind series. It did not feel copied, it just had a similar flavor, though written more for teens and young adults. Witnessing evil for what it is, and peaking at their playbook without dwelling on it, definitely inspires my faith and determination to pray and know the Word. The cost of not doing so is more real now, which is a sign of good writing!

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author, I chose to review it here, all thoughts are my own.
