Publisher's Summary

How do we live faithfully in a country becoming more and more hostile to our faith in Christ? Like the Israelites in Babylon, we must find a way to maintain our faith in the midst of a pagan culture. But that requires we answer two crucial questions: How did we get here? How do we prepare for the dark and difficult days ahead?

In The Church in Babylon, Dr. Lutzer answers both of these questions. He will walk you through the many parallels between the church in America and God’s people in Babylon and embolden you to be a gospel witness. You’ll be encouraged not to compromise your faith even when under constant pressure from all corners of society. And more than all this, you will have a fresh encounter with Jesus Christ as you consider the biblical role of those in exile.

Best Christian Books I've Read In A Long Time!

I trust the wisdom from Erwin Lutzers. He has seen it all. His discernment is impressive. This is a book unlike all the others. He is not afraid to tell the blunt truth. Finally, a dose of real truth and common sense which is rare to find these days. This is one of those books I will read over and over. His deep understanding of our culture and people in general....only comes from half a century of sharpening that skill. Very few people have this ability.

Btw...I never write reviews. I get nothing out of it. But, this book is something everyone should be talking about but most have never heard of it. It will probably remain that way because our society prefers feel good lies over truth. The truth will set you free!

A Challenge

Dr. Luther presents a challenge for the modern church based on a correlation with the Hebrew nation in captivity. It is a correlation that I had never seen before. It brought comfort to me to know that in these uncertain times there is a road map for navigation because some has been here before. Question is: "What will my response be?"

Winding walk through the state of our culture, country and church

Because I know his voice from Moody radio, I wish Dr. Lutzer narrated, but Mr Geoffrey kept me focused.

Definitely a book for any concerned Christian; convicting and informative.

The Church in Babylon: Heeding the Call to Be a LD

The book was well narrated and very enlightening. This was my first book on audio and I enjoyed it. Although I still prefer the written copy and [plan to buy it, the audible book option can provide me with an alternative that I can resort to in those instances where I cannot practically read a document in print. Amazing insights

The narrator was excellent; I had to look to make sure it wasn't the author, because I don't know the author's voice, but this guy read it that well. I would put this on the top of my list of books that all Christians should read or listen to. We would get a better perspective on what's happening and how we should be behaving

Encouraging and convicting

Very timely for this day and time . I live in the world and the challenge to not love the world, but love the people is a predicament I find myself.

Dr. Lutzer at his best

Dr. Erwin Lutzer is always a favorite pastor to listen to online with his sobering but uplifting messages. And he transfers his incredible sermons to book form with such ease. The reader is convicted in all the necessary ways. May we be counted worthy in these days. What a wonderful book. Joe Geoffrey’s narration was a great addition. One couldn’t ask for better!! Thank you Audible.
