Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
After endless years of fighting in a galaxy-wide war, the most decorated super-soldier of the Old Federation was granted leave, sliding into a stasis tube aboard a sleeper ship. The ship never reached its port, and the soldier woke up a thousand years later on an operating table. The Old Federation was gone, most planets hurled back into the Stone Age. A devastated Earth used spies instead of spaceships to compete against the tougher, richer worlds.

A deadly poison drifted to every corner of the planet, threatening the last survivors with annihilation. For a soldier like Creed, there is only one way to keep breathing untainted air. As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look is more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Thousands of crew are reported dead, including the ship’s captain. Reluctantly, the young XO, Galvin Quintos, will be taking command of the fleet's crippled dreadnaught, the USS Hamilton, while doing his best to bring fleet survivors back to Earth. To make matters worse, there’s a murderer running loose on board the ship, critically low fuel levels, and the Grish are back, in fast pursuit and ready to finish what they’d started. Only by sheer luck - and a good measure of cagey smarts - will Quintos be able to rise to the challenge.

Aliens exist...and, as it turns out, most of them aren’t that friendly. Jacob Brown wasn’t even born yet the first time they attacked Earth. He was only 14 the second time it happened. When Earth finally came together and fielded its first spaceborne military, Jacob didn’t hesitate to volunteer. Serving aboard a mighty starship, he’d be able to defend his planet - and his family - when, inevitably, they came again.

Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. Publisher's Summary
The Galactics quarantined Earth. But the last Galactic Guard agent died. Logan found his stealth ship, and now it's his job to protect the Earth from alien predators.
Kazz is a genuine Neanderthal and Philemon is an apish proto-human, two thugs with priceless information to sell to the highest alien bidder. But first they have to get off this backward planet.
They hijack Logan's Guard ship, needing it to crack an ancient alien structure at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, believing it will provide them the ticket out of here. What they don't know is that the structure holds a terrifying alien prisoner that could doom the human race to eternal servitude - and if they did know, they wouldn't care. Kazz and Philemon just want to cash in.
It's up to Logan to stop them, but, at the moment, he's on the run from humans who want the secrets of the Guard ship.
Invaders: The Chronowarp, the second book in the Invaders Series, is a novel of science fiction adventure by best-selling author Vaughn Heppner.

Much better than book 1
Well Logan seems to be less of a stupid risk taker and more importantly I started to really like both Logan and Rex which I think is the key to any story. There are enough twists and turns to keep the listener fully engaged. It was engaging from the 1st chapter to the last.
I am not going to talk about the story line so your on your own.

Disappointing
I am not a fan of how the author jabs at Christians for no reason. Putting your own spin on history is not an original idea. Been done way better without having to put Christians down. And his concept of relationships between men and women was mind numbingly stupid. The little bits of sci-fi scattered around was actually entertaining. Try sticking to sci-fi.

Worth a listen
I definitely enjoyed this book per usual with his scifi adventures. The only issue I tend to have is how characters, especially the lead regularly have moments where they act brainless. There is nothing I hate more then when a character is thrown under the bus for story sake. I'm tired of seeing intelligent characters suddenly become stupid to make a story work. Do us military guys a favor, dont make us all out to be muscle heads who cant see the writing on the wall. A character can be strong and intelligent, write better so that intelligence is challenged.

Really enjoyed The Chronowarp
This may not be for every Scifi fan, but it works for me. In book one, Christian Rummel threw me for a very short time but I soon found he was the perfect choice for a narrator for this series. He matches Logan in this readers expectation,
No spoilers here, so I'll just say I enjoyed the listen and very glad book 3 is in my queue!

Vaughn Heppner has done it again. If you enjoy an action packed fast paced Sci-fi story then you'll love this! The main character is hilarious! I won't give spoilers but there is a little here for any sci-fi lover to enjoy. Now I'm off to read volume three! Three books in three days.

Disappointing
Having read the first book in this series, which I thought was very good, I had high expectations for book 2. Unfortunately, the book missed the mark in my opinion.
I’ll start with the good. I like the concept of the book. I like the main character most of the time...and the performance of the narrator was amazing. He made the aliens come to life. Truly exceptional work.
However...almost every major scene in the book had a half-baked feeling that left the adventures of our hero very forgettable. I listened to the audio book over a two day period and I found myself forgetting what had happened earlier in the story simply because the descriptions of the various underwater alien bases, locations around the world, etc. felt bland and were difficult to visualize through the words of the author. I kept thinking things would get better...more interesting...but they didn’t. When we finally got to the climax of the book, I had the distinct feeling that the author just wanted to be done...he rushed and wrote what seemed to be a lazy climax and ending. I think this author has a ton of potential. He just needs to give us a little more of the good stuff he had in book 1.
