Publisher's summary

Ziri Mokuru has lived her entire life in the rural village of Arden Hollow on the planet Tersi. While her parents are off having adventures and being Very Important People, she's struggled simply to find a place where she belongs. One night, she investigates a disturbance in her home and discovers an armor-clad man sorting through her belongings. Her first thought is for her parents' safety, not to question why this man is in her home late at night without even the courtesy of knocking. After all, no one among the trusting Tersii breaks into someone else's home without a good reason.

Ryn abid Alna has an excellent reason for sneaking into Ziri's home. After years spent scraping together enough vud for the bride price, he's finally ready to steal a wife. One look at Ziri's sweet smile and Ryn decides no other woman will do. She can fix anything she touches, so why not the loneliness he's lived with since he was enslaved as a young boy?

Though Ziri longs for love, she's not so sure she's ready to settle down with the man who kidnapped her, especially after he jumps her into a nest of Sweepers, a sinister alien race bent on mayhem and destruction. As the day draws near when she faces Ryn's family on the Choosing field, Ziri ponders the hardest decision of her life: Fight for Ryn and the place he's made for her in his heart or choose another man as a life mate and risk never knowing love.

Very well written book. Had my full attention throughout the journey. my only dislike had to be the lack of confidence and ensuing misunderstandings

I didn't like it.

Would you try another book from Lucy Varna and/or Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal ?

I don't know if I will try another Lucy Varna book. I like to think I would only because with authors I love some of there books I feel are not up to their standard and my be this is not one of her greats. The Narrators can only work with what they have and I was very unhappy with this book so I think it changes how I feel about the Narrators at the time of hearing it. So I for sure will get a book if I want it even if one of them is the narrator.

What could Lucy Varna have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She could make up her mind. If the main character is strong and smart go with it. If she is week and sweet go with it.

What didn’t you like about Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal ’s performance?

The switch at chapters is cool in some ways and distracting some times.

What character would you cut from The Choosing?

I couldn't stand the main character.

The Choosing - slow not bad, but slow.

Would you try another book from Lucy Varna and/or Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal ?

Yeah I would, I loved her story line, however, it needed to pep it up some. I got half way through the book and stopped. I read 3 other books and then came back to this one. Again, I liked the story line, just that there were very slow spots.

If you’ve listened to books by Lucy Varna before, how does this one compare?

I have not, this was my first story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Interesting, I think the narrator was fine, but could have also been a little more peppy. Again, very seldom do I start a book and stop in the middle. I almost wasn't going to finish, but I came back and did. It was a good story, just slow.

Did The Choosing inspire you to do anything?

No, only to give it a rest - read 3 more exciting books with a faster pace.

Any additional comments?

I hate to give negative reviews. I really liked this story when I finally finished it. I did like the characters but the pace was just too slow. An author has to keep the reader's mind engaged. Again I loved the story. I don't want to be negative. So please Lucy Varna don't feel bad. Just speed up some of the story-line in the future.

The Choosing

This is book 1 of the Pruxnae series and it was good. I listened to books 0.5, 2, and 3 first, then I listened to book 1. Although it was good, it was not as good as the other books. Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal did a very good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

What a phenomenal book!!

This is definitely not your traditional love story. But it is so much better!! Ren was the perfect gentleman and I'm truly happy that he and Ziri were there for one another. He definitely saved her life just as much as she saved his.

Different

Would you listen to The Choosing again? Why?

Not really.

What other book might you compare The Choosing to and why?

I compare it to the hunger games except instead of fighting for food they are fighting for love.

Have you listened to any of Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to Angel Clark before and I have to say she did an amazing job narrating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes because I wanted to know what Ziri will do next.

A good paranormal story

I listened the audible version of this story and enjoyed it a lot. The narrators did a fantastic job with the characters. This paranormal story had action and was a good slow burn but steamy read. I enjoyed Ziri and Ryn characters although I disliked Ryn's sister, but she came through in the end. I liked that Ziri wasn't a weak female character, and I really enjoyed the fight scene, it wasn't a lot, but it was funny. I wished the story had an epilogue or something to add to the end of Ziri and Ryn's story because it seemed as if it ended too abruptly. I needed a little bit more but overall; this was a good paranormal story.

book 2 - The Pruxnae

This is book 2 in Varna's series The Pruxnae. A sci-fi romance that has action, adventure, kidnapping, romance and steamy chemistry. Main characters are Ziri Mokuru, kidnapped by Ryn abid Alna in a raid of her planet in hopes of finding a bride. While Ziri never really found her place on her planet it was her home with loving parents. Ryn has taken her away from everything she's ever known but given her adventures she's always dreamed of. Will that be enough to win her heart? Full of self doubts these two lack communication from the very beginning and find themselves struggling. Will they be able to overcome their lack of communication and doubt to find what they both truly desire?!?
Narration was very well done. Love the dual narration that helped keep characters separate and brought them both to life. Smooth tones and easy to listen to and follow the storyline.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Romantic read, love it! Excellent narration

I enjoyed this Audio Book very much!
This is the second book I read about the Pruxnae, and I’m so happy I got to know these strange, sweet, hot aliens, with their unusual customs (like kidnaping).
I like the story, writing style and world building.
I especially loved the first half, where the emphasis is on the romance instead of on the drama.
Nothing to serious, just an enjoyable and relaxing read.

Narration was excellent, and that made the book even more enjoyable.
I’m listening to Book 2 now and it’s so much fun! Highly recommend this series!

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
