Publisher's summary

Ever wonder how Santa manages to get to all around the world in one night?

Elves, of course! George Elf is tired of being Santa's helper, but it's the only life he knows. Hundreds of years doing the same job would bore anyone nearly to death, but George would do anything to free himself of the torment. One Christmas Eve, George is a little too careless and nearly gets his head blown off by a beautiful police detective. He's never seen a human before, and she thinks she's seeing things. In an adventure the two will never forget, they find magic in unexpected places, and George decides it's time to think about his future. The problem is, George may not have a future at all. After an innocent kiss, George loses his immortality and is faced with a difficult choice. Will he remain an elf, choose to be human, or disappear forever? Find out in The Chimney Sweep!

Love this story

Oh I absolutely loved the twists in this one. It’s somehow light and heavy at the same time. Happy and sad in an odd but pleasant way. There are some minor audio issues but the narration is done well and I really liked it was told from the male perspective.

"I Was In Deep Chocolate Covered Snickerdoodles"

Parents- PG - this is acceptable for any age
Language- None... Made up phases like "Oh my, Gingerbread Man!"
Violence- PG13- Nothing graphic, she's a detective so there's some gun violence
Sexual Content- nothing to warn of, just snuggles and kissing variety

A bit of a mix of Elf and The Santa Clause movies in the storyline. Never kiss an elf and then leave him unattended in your home.... Super cute Christmas rom-com for the family. Definitely recommend for the next fun holiday listen.

Narrator- 4⭐ was a lot of fun to listen to and has good differentiations and acting skills. There are a handfull of areas that were missed in the sound edit where lines are repeated.

cute, fun holiday novella

A cute, short holiday themed novella. Well written and narrated. A story of an elf named George who tries to find himself in the elf world and the human world as well as navigate a newfound love. I love the mishaps of sweet George while he attempts to find his bearings as a human and his unsatisfaction with life I think is so relatable to most people at some point in their lives, so I appreciated that. I also really loved the family bonds that are realized and become so vital. Overall, a really sweet and fun read / listen!

Delightful and witty!

George Elf is an elf (oh, really?) and it's time to deliver presents to the good girls and boys. Everybody thinks it's Santa who makes the Christmas Eve journey, but George has been doing his job for years. George is growing jaded, is lamenting his lot and his complaints are hilariously witty. He says that elves are tormented for 364 days of the year with the work that has to be done. He says elves are like chihuahuas...on crack! His sarcasm is evident throughout the entire story. Well, it's time to get going and get the presents delivered, and he sees that Rudolf's replacements, Arthur and his wife Beatrice, are ready to fly. Not everything goes exactly as expected, especially when he climbs down a chimney and is met by a woman with a shotgun in her hands. Camilla is a police detective and isn't putting up with any shenanigans from this obviously deranged person on drugs. But George is drawn to her but there could be a problem. If you kiss a human, you lose your immortality, but he realizes that he's falling in love and he's willing to pay the price. This is a delightful story, filled with the magic of Christmas. The ending is truly special with surprises and revelations. The only thing missing is Santa taking his place in the sleigh and giving an order to Arthur and Beatrice to dash away! dash away! dash away all!
Martin Stenson's narration is excellent with his dynamic and well-paced voice that brings each of the characters to life.
