Publisher's summary

On the shores of Lake Erie sits the enchanted little town of Chancellor where fairy tales live, dreams come true, and happily ever afters always reign supreme. In this three book boxed set, you'll find a heart-warming collection of sweet romance fractured fairy tales. From mermaids to witches to faeries, the residents of Chancellor are far from ordinary. Enjoy these twisted fairy tales loosely based on The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and classic witch tales.

The Glass Mermaid: Kate, the last mermaid, is back on the shores of Lake Erie waiting for the last ounce of her mermaid glamour to leave her. She has nothing left to live for...until the day Cooper says hello. Cooper, who has returned to Chancellor to live out his final days as cancer slowly destroys him, has given up on any hope of love. He has nothing left to live for...until the day Kate says hello. All life is as fragile as glass. What would you sacrifice to save the one you love?

The Cupcake Witch: When Julie inherited Serendipity Gardens, a rundown bakery and nursery, she never could have guessed it would bring her the two things she wanted the most: a chance to follow her bliss and meet the guy of her dreams. Too bad that guy has plans to level her bakery, turning her dreams into a paved paradise. They say the course of true love never runs smooth. That's nothing a magical cupcake can't solve

The Bee Charmer: What if your fairy godfather was too busy falling in love to help you find your soulmate? Rayne moved to Chancellor on a mission to help Alice find true love. That is, after all, his job as her fairy godfather. What Rayne didn't expect was to find a love of his own. All Viola wants is to pursue her dream of becoming a perfumer. She doesn't have time to fall in love. Viola and Rayne will soon find that when your heart makes a wish, even impossible dreams can come true.

Delightful and magical

These three stories, the glass mermaid, the cupcake witch and the fairy godfather are wonderful and creative. I really enjoyed the characters and the alternating pov. Each ended with a sweet love come true. The narrator did a wonderful job creating a different voice for each character and keeping the style consistent. It was fun how the stories connected the characters across the entire collection. I want to visit the magical world of Chancellor.

mermaids, witches and fairy godfathers....

What more could you ask for. This box set gives you 3 amazing tales linked together in Chancellor. A ancient mermaid who finds love in a dying man, a nature witch who didn't know she was a witch finds her place and powers in a forgotten little shop, and a fairy godfather (yes you read that right) finds true love while helping his charge finally find hers. Amazing as always. And don't stop listening. theres a couple short stories at the end ;)

The magic of fairytales

These stories were pure magic and such a joy to listen to. They had that special quality which comes with truly amazing fairytales. Each one was its own story yet the characters interconnect making each one feel even more magical as the relationships got to grow and depend in the later stories. This was a purely magical town and I wanted to live there. Each couple is so different and has their own way of falling in love. Their different personalities were amazing. I adored how the town had magic and the different types of magical beings. These were fun twists on normal fairytales. I hope there will be more stories in this town I never wanted the stories to end.

Fabulous Fairytales

This is such a fun read. Loosely based on common fairytales these stories are delightful with relatable characters and detailed world building. I loved the mixture of magic and real life. The narrator was fantastic at bringing the story and characters to life. I look forward to more in this series & from this author

Sweet Stories, Okay Narration

I got to listen to this at the courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review. The short and sweet of it: if you like Nicholas Sparks, and fairy tales, I think this will be a pretty solid win for you. There is a lot of drama and near tragedy in this set of stories, but they end happily. Even better, they’re pretty short, which is awesome if you don’t like to make a lot of time for reading/listening to books.

I think that the world Karsak created with her retelling is great. I really enjoyed the extra history she put into her mermaid in particular, which really sets up everything for the series. I especially liked that the characters from previous books made little cameo appearances in the subsequent stories. It just tied them all together nicely, and she clearly put a lot of thought into the stories she created.

The narration was ok. I really enjoyed the narration of the female point of view, but the male point of views really fell flat. I mean that literally, she just kind of assumed a very flat tone and those sections became really lifeless, and sounded like the narrator was bored. That doesn’t float so well when the guy is supposed to be admiring a full bust… I mean most men aren’t particularly bored with those kinds of details.

That brings me to what really did this set in for me on a personal level. To be clear, I think there are plenty of people who will love this series, but it ultimately was not for me. What killed it for me was when the male point of view was admiring his female counterpart, her full breasts and (I believe the quote was) “her secret feminine parts”... or it may have been “her feminine secret parts”, but one is not better than the other. I just can’t get past that terminology. It’s so, so, so poor. I understand wanting to be somewhat modest, but I dare you to ask any man ever if he has considered a woman’s vagina her “secret feminine parts”. I just can’t. It’s too terrible. I literally laughed out loud when I heard it.

As I said, I think that it is over all a sweet series, well thought out and generally well presented. If you like a sweet romance, and enjoy fairytale reimaginings, I think you’ll really enjoy this. It just wasn’t for me.
