It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The Alt Apocalypse is the ground-breaking, genre-bending series from Tom Abrahams. It explores survival under the most extreme circumstances, but with a twist (and no cliff-hangers). This series, which can be listened to in any order, features the same core characters in each complete story. But every book dunks them into a new, alternate apocalypse; a nuclear holocaust, an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, a hurricane, a plague, and even zombies.

Publisher's Summary
Some say that true evil never dies, it merely lies dormant, awaiting the next opportunity to rise from its dark lair and visit itself upon humankind again.
Jack Hunger, a cop in Lee County, Florida, never gave it much thought. He purchased the 20-year-old Pentax K1000 camera at a perfectly respectable thrift store, and it was to be the beginning of a new hobby for the reclusive crime scene photographer.
The dismembered body of rookie cop Justin Sims and the bullet-riddled corpse of Russian Mafia killer Sergei Veselov are Jack Hunger's first subjects. The job seems to be just another brutal day at the office, until he develops the photographs taken with his new camera in his home darkroom.
As the images of the two corpses appear on the photographic paper, something dark awakens, setting into motion a terrifying chain of events that threatens to shatter the sanity of Jack Hunger and his friend, Sheriff Wayne Olsen.
Together, the two men are plunged into an intense race against time, forced to push their own fears and all logic aside. They must stop the darkness in its tracks before it escapes into the shadowy streets of an unsuspecting world.

Excellent book - highly recommend
I was worried when I saw it was narrated by author. I usually avoid those as the authors typically, well suck. Not this one. He is a damn good narrator and has narrated several books on audible that he hasn't authored.

Wow, this is not your traditional zombie story. You get your photo taken and then if you get killed you come back to life. Not only that you are driven to EAT the flesh of your killer. Filed with drama and some humor this book is excellent. Shelman continues to bring the characters to life through his narration. I love this book.

Not disappointed!
Once again one of my favorite authors has delivered a fantastic tale of an evil that will not die but is passed into a camera where it waits-it waits patiently. Evil will recognize evil and once unleashed we are taken on a trip that delves into the mouth of madness.
Eric Shelman has done it again with this extreme horror story and a must read/listen to if you are a fan.
As stated, I did both, I started reading it but when I could not sit to do so, I would listen to it and really could not decide which I like better. Either way it was a book I could not put down or turn off to the very end. A must have in your library if you are a fan, if you have not picked up Eric's books and like this type of genre, then this is a good start.
Looking forward to the next installment.

The Camera
This was not what I expected. The story was good, rather original, but gross.Somehow a thrift store camera used for crime photos has black smudges that disappear over time.People are being dismembered. One is a cop. Two cops are charged with finding the cause and stopping more bloodshed. If you like cannibal zombies....this is for you.Mr Shelman is a good narrator.I was provided this book by the author or publisher for a review.

Blood...and Lots of It!
Jack Hunger buys a camera at a thrift store to use in his job as a crime photographer. Little does he know the history of his latest purchase. It contains the soul of a killer. And the killer’s killer. So Jack is not prepared for what happens when he uses his new camera to photograph the scene of carnage when a mafia butcher named Sergei is taken down after escaping prison. But the butcher is not taken down fast enough and murders a rookie police officer before he himself is killed. So begins a tale of bloodthirst so powerful it may make a cop kill his own.
There is a little bit of zombie, a little bit of Frankenstein, a little bit cannibal, and a little bit of love story all mixed up in this story. I wasn’t quite prepared for all of the horror contained in this book, especially when it happens to children. But I liked it, I liked Jack, I liked the rookie cop, and I liked Hannah.
As usual, Eric Shelman did an excellent job on the narration. He sped up, slowed down, and spoke in just right tone at just the right time. His female voices don’t distract from the listen and his accents are very good. I enjoy listening to him and he has never disappointed!

A funny, sick twist on walking dead horror
Where do I start with this review? I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but you need to know what you're getting yourself into.
1) This is a book about a haunted/possessed camera, walking corpses, and a couple of guys trying to save the world from evil.
2) It is extremely bloody and contains particularly descriptive scenes involving human cannibalism. Some parts I just had to fast-forward through because they were making me sick...and I'm not really that squeamish about such things.
3) This book goes against the unspoken rules of horror. Both pets and children die in this book, so if that's upsetting to you, don't read it.
4) The author did a fantastic job of narrating. He brought his characters to life through voice, which is not always the case with audio books.
5) If you can get past the blood and guts parts of it, it's a great listen. The action moves very quickly and you find yourself sucked into the story right along with our heroes. You will laugh, you might want to cry, you will definitely be disgusted at some point, but you will enjoy the ride.

Not just a camera....
What did you love best about The Camera: Bloodthirst?
Where to begin...you just think it is a camera, a normal camera...oh no, it is not that. That camera has powers and those powers are scary.
What did you like best about this story?
This was a creepy story that grabs you at the start and does not let go until the very end. Awesome story to listen to, makes me not want to take any pictures for awhile. Great story!
What about Eric A. Shelman’s performance did you like?
He did a great job of narrating the story. He keep me from wanting to turn the story off to work or do other things. Plus the fact this was his book, made it so much better. He knew just how to read each scene to keep you listening.
If you could take any character from The Camera: Bloodthirst out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Would love to sit and talk to Jack to find out more about him and his stories, you know he must have many more stories...
