In The Call to Love, I share my story of choosing to become a mom to a group of amazing brothers and sisters, at the age of 40, with my best friend. We are a pretty big, modern family in every sense! Each chapter walks you through our crazy story from when we first met our kids to when we became family. I guarantee you have never met a family like ours, and I hope you will laugh and cry with me through each step of our journey.
But this isn't just a memoir of our story. In each chapter, you will learn trauma-informed parenting strategies to help you create the home you hope for. You will learn six different evidenced-based parenting techniques we use with our children. There isn't a cookie-cutter approach for working with kids from hard places. We need to look at ourselves as parents and our individual children and figure out what approaches will work for us in this season. And that might change tomorrow! So it's important to have a well informed concept of parenting and then move forward with what works in your home right now.
I am all about keeping it real. So this audiobook will not be pretty or perfect or tied up with a bow. I'm honest about times we screwed up, the seasons where it was really hard, but also the times we laughed and loved and did it well. I'm hoping that this book starts a conversation about the struggles often faced by foster and adoptive parents and creates a community between all of us.

Practical help for all parents & inspiration to make a difference
This well written personal story documents the author’s passion for the children she was compelled to love. Their heritage isn’t the same, yet her love as a mother is unquestionable.
Tricia’s many years as a counselor who specializes in trauma informed care offer a unique perspective from a down to earth professional.
