Story
Nitro is a story about much more than WCW and the Monday Night Wars. It is a story of an era, a time in which the media and cultural landscape precipitated - and later supported - pro wrestling's mainstream popularity. It is a story of how a company made in the image of an intuitively brilliant risk-taker betrayed its original promise. It is a story of how a handful of men, each struggling with their own limitations, facilitated a public obsession that changed television forever.

In 1997, World Championship Wrestling was on top. It was the number-one pro wrestling company in the world, and the highest-rated show on cable television. Each week, fans tuned in to Monday Nitro, flocked to sold-out arenas, and carried home truckloads of WCW merchandise. Sting, Bill Goldberg, and the New World Order were household names. Superstars like Dennis Rodman and KISS jumped on the WCW bandwagon. It seemed the company could do no wrong.

Throughout the history of the WWF, there have been times of prosperity and times of hardship, cycles that shape the ethos of the company by forcing changes to its infrastructure and on-screen direction. The one constant throughout three decades of change is Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the stalwart puppet-master who captains the ship. Unflinching, thick-skinned, and domineering, McMahon has ultimately outlasted all of his competition and come out on top of every wrestling war he has waged. In 1995, he very nearly lost.

He was the most vicious, bloodthirsty, reviled villain in the history of the ring. During the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, he drew record crowds everywhere he went and left a trail of burned and bloody opponents in his wake. But what those legions of fans screaming for his head never knew was that The Sheik was really Eddie Farhat. The son of Arab immigrants, Farhat served his country proudly in World War II and was fulfilling the American dream. When he wasn't screaming unintelligibly and attacking his enemies, he was busy being the owner and operator of World Wide Sports.

Publisher's Summary
Is that thing you love to do in your spare time worth a million bucks?
The personalities in pro wrestling have always been some of the most unique and entertaining in the world. For more than 10 years, Kayfabe Commentaries has been the leading production company in the shoot interview genre, and now, you'll go inside the company and see how it was done.
Sean Oliver, the on-camera ringmaster and co-owner of the company, takes the listener through all the components of building the business that bought the real-life personalities behind wrestling's outrageous personalities to the masses. From the hits to the cancellations, Oliver explains the logic behind each decision in producing the shows and handling talent - often the most challenging aspect of the job.
Filled with real-world examples from Sean's leading Kayfabe Commentaries, the audiobook outlines the entrepreneurial tenets that can make a small business thrive. Building a "Business of Blood", which Oliver describes as a business born out of its creator's passion for a hobby, will give the small-business owner advantages over big business. Go on the KC shoots, explore its business tactics, see the presentation Sean made to TNA Wrestling back in 2010, and hear about his product pitch to Kiss' Gene Simmons before he even founded KC. Everything Sean learned about succeeding in this out-of-the-ordinary industry is presented to you in The Business of Kayfabe.
Join Sean and see how your business of blood might be able gross more than a million dollars in under 10 years due to your level of love and insight.

Buyer Beware
If you enjoyed Sean's last book and want more of the same - don't buy this book. I'm sure it's a good book but it's actually a handbook for starting your own business. I couldn't make it through the first hour but I wanted to write a review (warning) for other fans of Sean's work.

Another compelling read from Sean Oliver
If you’re a fan of the of his first book Kayfabe, then you’ll love this book. It’s like a sequel with his previous experiences and stories but also a book that educates you on how to grow a business yourself.
Sean gives you a interesting perspective and tips on how to learn from you mistakes and successes and continue to grow. I recommend it for fans of the product as well as anyone that’s looking for ideas on how to start your own business or just even how to present yourself and your work in the real world.
Well done.

Wonderfully Insightful
As a big fan of Kayfabe Commentaries (KC), I dove into this book hoping for inside/backstage stories about the many different wrestling stars Sean has had on his KC shoot interviews. However, this book is a peek into what it took to not only build Sean's "business of blood," (KC), but "The Business of Kayfabe: Turning Wrestlers' Secrets into a Million Dollars" also uses its example and other fabricated business examples to give sound advice to potential new business start ups. Sean's example of the fisherman's business was particularly well written and easy to understand even if a reader doesn't own a business or have a business background. Favorite Quote: "In all the above cases we're talking about lifestyle-based businesses, heavily linked to the passions of their consumers. Think about your Business of Blood--when things are good, you make your customers feel even better. When it all goes to shit, you're the onr place to which they can still turn for enjoyment. That's a nice place to be in the world."

The intersection of inner drive and business
In "The Business of Kayfabe" a follow-up of sorts to "Kayfabe" - Sean Oliver expertly walks the listener through some detailed aspects of his business philosophy. These tenants coupled with his lifelong passion for a subset of the professional wrestling industry; transformed himself, and a few of his friends from mere committed wrestling fans to innovators on the cutting edge of wrestling content creation; whom through their "blood" find themselves at the zenith of the very sector which they love!
While this book does have wrestling stories in it; Mr. Oliver skillfully positions his success story as the simultaneous backdrop and wealth of examples to further illustrate his general business concepts of which, he's trying to thus impart to would be motivated small business owners. I definitely would recommend this book to any eager person, whom has a purpose driven mindset.

All hail the king of KC
Cards on the table - I'm a KC customer and a big fan of Sean and his work; I profiled him a while back for FSM. However, I've never read a business book in my life so all my bonhomie was only going to get me so far. Some killer wrestling stories - not to mention some spot on impersonations - certainly helped sweeten the pill but in the end, it was the business-related content that won out. Honest, inspiring and often very funny, this is a perfect read for anyone who's ever wondered why bosses behave a certain way, why even the very best ideas can fail and why no one's sure about the size of Batista's dick.
