The Burgess Bird Book for Children (1919) is a classic nature book by Thornton Burgess, who introduces young listeners to the subject of bird life by means of a series of interviews within a story. Peter Rabbit and Jenny Wren interview Slaty the Junco, Redwing the Blackbird, Melody the Wood Thrush, Spooky the Screech Owl, and many other common birds to learn about their appearance, their eating, mating and nesting habits, and their songs and calls. The text remains popular as an exceptional combination of information and entertainment.

Our family loves all the Burgess books; we own most of the actual books. I bought this audiobook to use in our homeschool... but this is the only one I'll do that with.

The narrator seems totally bored with what he's reading, and it really detracts from the story. My kids are still enjoying it, but it gets on my nerves listening. And even though it seems they have different narrators for Burgess' different books, they clearly went with ones that don't care, because the reviews for all the narrators are terrible on these. Very sad.

Great book, not great narrator

Fantastic book! Burgess brings ornithology to life with rich detail and compelling story; no better way to read about birds! Read very pleasantly.

Living book in birds!

Its too bad the narrator didn't read the book once through so he could communicate through his voice where the story is going

great book--too bad narrator sounds unengaged
