Publisher's Summary

When American covert operative Chase Fulton finds himself aboard a luxury mega-yacht off the Florida Keys with a dead Russian billionaire on deck and the beautiful SVR officer he loves standing over the body with a bloody knife in her hands, he believes his life could never become more complicated. But he is wrong.

A vow to a mentor and beloved friend sends him on a tumultuous quest through the criminal underworld of South Florida to rescue an innocent young woman who represents not only Chase’s painful past, but also may be his only hope for psychological survival in the future. After suffering the agony of loss and ultimate betrayal, Chase learns that loyalty is a veil behind which deception, dishonor, and treason often lurk.

Just as Great...

Just as great as the opening novel! Read the first book and you also will be hooked on the series and yearning to hear more. Kudos to Cap Daniels for knowing how to develop characters that we can relate to because they are not exactly perfect, just like all of us! Looking forward to the next adventure...

Another winner!

Cap Daniel’s knack for spinning a tale full of excitement, intrigue and action, with a sense of humor makes me look forward to the next in the series. Kyle Tait’s narration is spot on. Don’t miss it.

Slow

I really struggled to finish this one. It was very slow with very little action.

Weak characterisations

Amataeurish writing, twee, a lot of unnecessary waffle that takes you nowhere. A marshmelliw character thats supposed to be a top assassin . Silly,

Book one was better

The second book in a series is always the hardest. Expectations are raised from book one and book two needs to be just as good, if not better. This listen continued the story but did not escalate beyond that.

The story takes place right where book one ends. Chase and Anya/Anna try to have a normal existence after dispensing with all of the bad guys. At first, I thought the beginning was like a rollercoaster climb - slowly building until you get to the top then a huge rush as you fall. Nope. The slow build only resulted in a series of unbelievable events that never rose to anything near excitement. It was rather disappointing.

A new character, Skipper, is introduced during this nearly eight hour listen but I'm taking a hard pass on her. She was a tad annoying.

I loved the first book. I liked this one but not enough to continue.
