Publisher's Summary

When I’m offered the chance to leave New York to live in London for three months, I can’t pack my suitcase fast enough. As soon as I touch down, I’m obsessing over red telephone boxes, palaces, and all the black cabs. But my favorite place is the tube. It’s wall-to-wall hot British men in suits.

When I’m offered a temporary job working for a barrister, I say, sign me up. On my first commute into work, it’s a total accident when I lose my balance and fall against the most handsome Brit alive. He’s as charming as James Bond and as suave as Mr. Darcy. I want to lick tea from his hard abs and listen to his accent all night long.

Turns out Mr. Handsome is my new boss. And his attitude isn’t as hot as his gorgeous face, broad shoulders, and tight ass. He’s brooding, short-tempered, and the most arrogant man I’ve ever met.

As we’re fighting, out of nowhere he kisses me. And I’m pretty sure I see fireworks over Big Ben and hear "God Save the Queen". I wasn’t looking for the fairy tale, but I might have found my knight in shining armor. The problem is he lives an ocean away.

Louise Bay creates 5 star magic once again!

Hot dayum, Louise Bay! Every time I think I've heard my favorite Louise Bay audiobook I listen to the next and I'm blown away yet again. The British Knight did not fail to live up to my high expectations and now wears the crown as audiobook ruling over my heart.

Alexander and Violet are romance perfection. Alexander is book boyfriend heaven. He's driven, handsome, smart and utterly charming. But his softer, sweet side, especially when it comes to Violet is what kept me madly in love with him. Violet, for her part was a total dream! She's smart, sexy, confident, and beautiful and yet remains relatable because of her vulnerability and hesitance to let herself love again. Together the Violet and Alexander make for an electrifying couple.

With chemistry that sizzles and a love story that captivates from the begging to the very last sentence. Louise Bay creates magic once again with this five star, standalone!

Narration by Saskia Maarleveld and Shane East was phony short of perfection. Both bring their respective characters to life beautifully. Plus, Shane East voice is just plain heaven. 5 stars.

Loved it!

Pleasantly surprised by this book. I bought this book on a whim thinking that I needed a break from my usual sci-fi romance. What I found was a wonderful story that made me laugh, cry and feel all the emotions in between. I will certainly be checking out some of this author's other works. Thank you for a wonderful listen!

Filled with great chemistry, sass & passion!

Just when you think an author can't get any better, in comes Louise Bay and takes you on a ride that you don't want to get down from. I dove into this book having read many of her previous work, especially from this series, and I might have to say that this is my favorite. I will start by saying that Violet is one of my new favorite ladies from the world created by Louise!! I thought I loved Beth & Scarlett, but Violet has her "Take No Prisoners" / "I Will Not Back Down" attitute and I completely loved her. Her feistyness and her will to not give up completely spoke to me. Alexander, even at his gruffyest, is all sorts of alpha. It's not every day that you see a divorced leading man and the process of what that does to his phyque. Alexander was upfront that work always took center stage but in came Violet and shook him up... IT WAS THE BEST!! The anticipation and the chemistry is spot on, the plotting is very solid and storytelling is engaging and grips you by the heart in all the best ways. I have my one-click, surefire authors that I follow and will invest my time and money in because I know I will get to experience stories that feel real and have so much depth and passion that I don't have to think twice when it comes down to a great read. Louise is one of those. She delivers and then some! Passionate, sexy, smart and filled with great banter and chemistry... This is a great read deserving of every star!!

Another awesome Louise Bay story

Great read! I love this author because she writes in way that really makes you feel the emotion of the characters. I loved it and couldn’t stop listening. I really loved the narrators as well. It wasn’t as steamy as some of her books in the past but nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait until her next book! I hope it comes out soon!

No Fuss Romance

I truly believe Shane East has one of the sexiest voices out there. He could read any story and make it sound amazing. He's why I rushed to get this book and while Shane didn't disappoint the story was lacking a bit of something. While the main characters have you rooting for them there really isn't much to the story. Pretty straight forward guy and girl fall in love in spite of the fact that neither one of them want to fall in love ever again. Not much else to the story.

this book was surprisingly really boring

Nothing happens. There's no depth. The hero does boring stuff. I really wanted to like it but this book was surprisingly really boring. I thought I'd be so much better. they have a one night stand in the office, he's going through a surprisingly boring divorce. There's an inner monologue almost the entire time repeating the same info over and over.

Great!

This audio book will go on my "hands off" shelf. Along with the first one in this series. I've been to London and this brought back good memories of that x. The narrator's did a great job narrating. I do recommend listening to this . It's definitely worth the credit. Enjoy!

The story is interesting enough .

Overall I think the story was interesting enough . There seems to be a lack of creativity in the language used to describe some of the more exotic scenes . It's really not my understanding that the F word would be used so freely in place of more creative language . That did take away from the story .

Was nervous at first...

I have to say that this audio book experience was better than I originally thought. I had trepidation about the 'new' (for me) male narrator, but his voice grew on me. The story line was not bad at all. This was the first book in this 'series' that I read only because the plot intrigued me. I had several pressing questions about the female protagonist:
Would she be a strong character? - Surprisingly, yes.
Would she annoy me as the plot unravelled? - Surprisingly, no.

The male protagonist was also equally important:
Would his strength remain present throughout? - Generally, he held his own.
Would he be overshadowed by the female character? - No.

The plot was predictable at times, but that was a good thing. Both characters hold their own, and the story line was enjoyable. I would listen again.

I would recommend this one as the first read - as it worked well as a first read in this series.

I'm going to be reading King of Wall Street next.

Another hit

I just love Louise Bays books and they really do get better and better , loved the story of Alex the barrister with a one track mind that’s addicted to his career And the American Violet who’s been dumped on , makes her way to the UK for a three month stint as a admin assistant purely to get his office in order and then to watch it progress into more
Shane East as Alex was a perfect choice epitomises him spot on and of course Saskia and the strong American also nails her performance....great casting is so important and to me they scored 100%

So thanks for another great listen

Fabulous book and fabulous narration!

Review of story:

OMG! I'm in love with Violet and Alexander! This is one of my favourite books by this author.

"His voice was like creme brulee - silky smooth with a hint of gravel. Yum. I'd lick the bowl if I had a dishful of him."

Violet King lives in the moment. After a disastrous love affair, she flits from job to casual job, and she's nowhere near realising her full potential. When the opportunity to take a break from her current life presents itself, she's on the next plane to London, and on her way to a new temporary job.

"Women rarely caught my attention, but she was not only beautiful. There was something exotic about her, something that made me want to know more."

Alexander Knightley lives and breathes his work. He's a total workaholic with a singular purpose: to be the best at his job. His father's legacy is a shadow of expectation that hangs over him, which is both a curse and something to be proud of. When Violet blows into his life, her beauty and vibrancy has him distracted and questioning what he really wants out of life.

"I wanted to please him. I wanted him to want me."

This novel was so romantic and sexy! Violet and Alexander are complete opposites in so many ways, but so alike in others. I felt such a thrill of excitement from the first moment they met. The tension between them was tangible.

"The girl was dissolving my focus, my control, my defenses."

I loved Violet's breezy, gutsy ways. She's utterly charming and has a heart of gold. Alexander's reputation precedes him as tough, taciturn, and difficult. I loved his dirty thoughts about Violet and how she affects him from their first meeting - the way she has him acting out of character. He demonstrated very clearly how much space she occupied in his mind. In turn, I enjoyed how Alexander also changes Violet and her view of the world, and makes her see herself in a new light.

This was such a FABULOUS book. I completely ADORED it!! Thoroughly, thoroughly recommend it.

Review of audiobook:

The authors absolutely bring this novel to life. This is the first time I've listened to Shane East and I'm in love with his voice! Saskia Maarleveld is hugely talented and always a pleasure to listen to. Both narrators did a brilliant job switching between English and American accents. I found the whole listening experience fluid and pleasurable. A fantastic production.
