Publisher's summary

The final book in the addictive, best-selling M/M thriller series More Heat than the Sun.

Ben and Nikolas know that if they were to compare recollections of their life together, they’d remember things very differently. Ben never asks about their time together in the Department because he doesn’t want to hear Nikolas lie. Nikolas never talks about those early years because he can’t afford for Ben to know the truth. After all, some old secrets, like hidden traps, lie rusty but ever eager to spring shut and destroy the unwary. But Nikolas, in love, truly happy, forgets to be vigilant. He takes a very serious misstep. For the first time, since their strange meeting in Whitehall 14 years ago, Ben is forced to rethink his claim that nothing Nikolas could ever do would make him stop loving him.

5 Amazing stars

This series has been a roller coaster ride, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of the drama and the heartbreak that these two men went through to get to where they are at the end of the series, but this is only the beginning!!!

Superb

this, once again was a superb performance of an amazing story full os suspense and love. Aleksy and Ben are what true love is all about. it's tough, hard, brutal and full os challenges that increase your love and determination to keep those you love close. Aleksys struggle with his past is catching up to him. All of his persona's are tearing him apart. Ben overcomes all of this confusion and terror to bind them both closer together.
These are my favorite characters of all I've read in decades. they both break your heart infuriate you, make you laugh and make you cry.

I hope John Whiltshire never stops writing.

Wow what a ride & journey of two perfectly imperfect Men

I have read the entire series 9 books in total. the author 5 stars wrote and brought such an amazing story with Gury Furlong to life! I felt so so many emotions, heartache, anger, frustration, and laughter. have not read a series IN A LONG TIME that gave me all the feels. what these two men had to endure to be together was truly my undoing. I am not going to go all in to tell the story but only say well worth the time and credit. I will so look forward to more by this author and Kudos to Gary Furlong for narrating the entire series amazing job bringing Ben And Alexis/Nicholas to life. The ending was perfect I will miss there journey.. p.s. lovely hungover!

Addictive

I loved the whole series. It made my heart ache, it made me furious and frustrated and despite the high angst and rather dark stories it made me smile and cheer for the couple. I got addicted to Alexi and Ben and had to binge listen all 9 books. Every time I thought I figured the plot out I was wrong- made me chew my nails and miss sleep.

Somehow the author managed to make the non-action parts as (if not more) captivating as the action parts. Narration was absolutely amazing. If I could I would give both the series and narrator 7/5 stars.

I think these books need to be revisited now that I know the ending and can relax and enjoy and not fret over everything and scream at the two idiots…

Gah!

Ok so the whole premise made me so anxious I had to stop listening for a bit. Whose funerals were they?
What happens to Ben and Nikolas?
Great final instalment.
I dropped an overall star because it made me too emotional 😂

That wasn't very cash money of you, Benjamin.

I love Ben and NIk so much. The flashbacks really recontextualized the first book. I had no idea Aleksey felt like this during the first book. it really just made him a much more sympathetic character.

everything was brought full circle. I just want them to be happy. I'd love a book of nothing but Ben and Aleksey fluff.

Gary did an amazing job as always.

Three cheers for the birthday boy!

Wonderful conclusion

I thought the past and present would drive me crazy but it certainly did not. The reader sees this from Nikolas's perspective. The narration was spot on. I hope John Wiltshire continues to write other books since I would like to read her future works. I will certainly miss reading about Nik, Ben and Radulf! This has to be one of my favourite series and I will definitely read this again.

enjoyed it

John Wiltshire is an unknown author for me. I picked up this series because I was looking for another long series (more than 5 books) revolving around the same characters and something a little "gritty" - it was a bonus that it was narrated by Gary Furlong. My overall comments are reflective of the whole 9 books, because I feel the 9 books are well worth the investment and it's been a very long time since I finished a series and went straight back to the beginning to listen again. 👍👍

Each book has a good pace and builds on events from the previous book as time progresses through the 14 years Ben & Nickolas are together, I was taken on a roller coaster ride of the best parts of an action/adventure movie, ran the full gamut of emotions and while the character development was subtle, it was well written and builds a relationship with a solid foundation that can withstand any force thrown its way.

Despite certain elements of some of the books not being to my liking, I was completely emersed in the stories, entertained from beginning to end and will definitely look for more from this author in the future.

📖 Story comment: The Bright and Hungry Future of Hawks: After 7 hours of the time jumps I was losing the thread’s of the current/present story line, loosing interest and a bit over it - but by the time I got to the end, I understood why it had been written the way it was and it all made sense. I though this was a clever conclusion and enjoyed the way it wrapped up the series.

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoyed Gary Furlong's narration, he suits the characters, has good cadence, inflections and intonations and it's easy to distinguish the characters from each other. Overall an enjoyable performance and he bought the characters of the book to life

Note to self ... the lack of lube drove me nuts ... 9 books and only one instance of "gun oil" to ease the way?

Great story. Great narration.

This entire series has been an action packed thrill ride layered with character introspection. Ben and Alexi aren't supposed to be the type of characters who spend much time on self reflection, but this final book in the series showcases just how much they have evolved as individuals and as a couple by learning from their past. Watching them build a family and a connection to each other is one of the most exciting adventures in the series.

This book wrapped up the series beautifully. The narration was spectacular. I originally discovered this series because I was looking for more books narrated by Gary Furlong. I was not disappointed. I not so secretly hope that John Wiltshire writes more stories that will be narrated by Gary Furlong. I am very satisfied with this series though, and I know I will listen to it and read it repeatedly.

I really enjoyed this series.

This series snagged me at the first book. When I want to listen to books I like to find the kind that have multiple books in the series either with multiple couples or just a life story about two people. I’ve never read anything from this author John Wiltshire. When I was either on book 3 or 4 I decided to read John autobiography and looked him up to see if he wrote any other books. I was amazed that he is such a new author was able to express so much about these two men in so many books. Though I did notice the last book the chapters were a lot thinner. There 9 books and well worth the investment to listen to. Gary Furlong was so good with the narration and was able to hook you in. I think after I got half way though the series I did take a break to listen to another book only because I needed a break from these two men. Basically even with how much they were attuned to each other but didn’t know the first thing of who they really were. All the secrets Nick kept. The deception he did in the name of love was some times to much to keep listening to but when I picked up where I left off I couldn’t stop listening to the rest of their story. The depth that John was able to put into these pages and the way Gary was able to bring them to life it was hard to walk away without feeling like I was going to miss something even though I could push stop at any time and rewind when I felt I missed something important. Sometimes throughout the books I felt I was missing something but book 9 is the cliff notes with some answers from the rest of the books which was fascinating to get the back story of who it was or who did it. Some parts when I was wondering who did it that happen throughout the story I had my own suspicions but was glad information was revealed in this book. Nicholas and Ben life in this series was so intriguing and in some small parts funny and a lot frustrating because of the stupidity of these two men, if they hadn’t lost themselves in their own guilt and actually had meaningful conversation with each other instead of in their minds things at times wouldn’t have gone so tragically wrong, but then it wouldn’t have been such an addicting story line and no one would listen to nine books to listen to their story unfold.
