Named one of 2021’s Best Beach Reads by BustleCountry LivingCosmopolitanAugusta Chronicle ∙ E! Online ∙ PureWow ∙ SheReads ∙ and more!

Breakups, like book clubs, come in many shapes and sizes and can take us on unexpected journeys as four women discover in this funny and heartwarming exploration of friendship from the USA Today best-selling author of Ten Beach Road and My Ex-Best Friend’s Wedding.

On paper, Jazmine, Judith, Erin, and Sara have little in common - they’re very different people leading very different lives. And yet at book club meetings in a historic carriage house turned bookstore, they bond over a shared love of reading (and more than a little wine) as well as the growing realization that their lives are not turning out like they expected.

Former tennis star Jazmine is a top sports agent balancing a career and single motherhood. Judith is an empty nester questioning her marriage and the supporting role she chose. Erin’s high school sweetheart and fiancé develops a bad case of cold feet, and Sara’s husband takes a job out of town saddling Sara with a difficult mother-in-law who believes her son could have done better - not exactly the roommate most women dream of.

With the help of books, laughter, and the joy of ever evolving friendships, Jazmine, Judith, Erin, and Sara find the courage to navigate new and surprising chapters of their lives as they seek their own versions of happily-ever-after.

Audio Errors

I haven’t finished the book yet, but wanted to warn others before they may buy this. This audiobook has multiple editing errors where the narrator repeats the same sentence over again. Needs to be fixed.

Audio is not edited

This book is a nice easy read, however the audio recording is not edited in parts (example Chapter 15), so there are lines read more than once or lines read in the incorrect character voice, etc. It takes me out of the story.

Awful reading, good story

The book is good, Wendy Wax always is, but I highly recommend reading instead of listening to this audio book. There are many editing issues where it stops, repeats itself or you hear actors speaking amongst themselves. Also, they are completely uneducated on the southern setting of the story. They pronounce many words differently than they are pronounced in southern culture (sir-rup vs sir-rip). The absolute worst is the pronunciation of the city of BirmingHAM as BirmingGUM.

They forgot to edit this

I loved the book and still really enjoyed listening but it’s shocking how many performance takes they forgot to edit out! I hope someone at Audible or on the production team sees this and gives the book an actual listen to clean it up so that others can fully enjoy!!

I enjoyed this book.

It’s an easy read with likable characters. I think I may look into joining a book club as I’m recently retired. Sounds fun!

Enjoyed the characters, but the ending…

I enjoyed getting to know these characters, but after a (sort of) climax, it just fizzles out. I was really hoping for a little excitement at the end. There were several characters that I’d love to know more about in a spin-off situation.

My kind of story? Nahhh

I read it for a book club ironically, 2 chapters in I knew I didn’t like it, but I stuck it out till the end and, *spoiler alert* it ends with “nahhhh” , which is kind of how I felt about the whole thing.

It could be me, but nothing about the book really shines… it didn’t make me laugh; or cry or sit on the edge of my seat. a book for each of the characters could have been more interesting, or a book focusing on the theme and danger of internet dating or the theme of grief world have made a better story. The way the character POV’s are pieced together left them feeling undeveloped. Book club should be interesting though, and I guess the point of book club is to read things you normally wouldn’t, and this book definitely falls into that category for me.
