Publisher's Summary

Fake boyfriends for a week? Yes, please.

Carter Olson never expected he’d get a chance to date his older brother’s best friend, Rip Taylor. Wished for it? Yes. Fantasized about it? Possibly too much. But ever thought it would actually happen? Not in a million years, since Rip is straight.

But even if it’s just to try and win a gay game show, having Rip for a boyfriend - even a temporary/pretend one - is still the best thing to happen to Carter in...well, ever.

Especially because Rip’s so good at it. Amazingly good, actually. So good that Carter starts to hope that maybe it won’t have to end once the show’s over.

If there are two things Rip Taylor lives for, they’re having fun and being there for his friends, so a trip to Vegas to help surprise his best friend’s girlfriend with a big, flashy proposal sounds awesome. And even more fun? His bestie's plan to try and win some prize money for the wedding by signing the two of them up as contestants on The Boyfriend Game

The game show is sponsored by the gay dating app bLoved, and Rip is all in. He may be straight, but he's never been narrow, and when circumstances (a.k.a. a best friend who can't hold his tequila) mean that little Carter Olson gets roped into being Rip's fake boyfriend instead, that’s almost better…because who wouldn’t be able to be a convincing boyfriend to Carter?

After all, Carter’s hella sweet. Kind of adorable, actually. And really, really easy to get into character with.

Winning The Boyfriend Game? Rip and Carter have it in the bag.

The Boyfriend Game is a gay romance novel of approximately 75,000 words that contains some confusion about tops and bottoms, a straight guy who realizes he isn’t, an ice cube that melts much too fast, and the kind of luck that can only be found in Vegas. Every Stella Starling romance takes place in the same interconnected, contemporary world, and The Boyfriend Game is a stand-alone book with cameos from other Stella Starling stories.

Yaaaassss!

So much love. Gah. This story is sickly sweet, low angst, smexy and so much more. It’s a total GFY and is such a lighthearted read (or listen), that it makes my soul happy. All of the characters were lovely and well-fleshed out. I especially love that Rip didn’t waffle back and forth about being attracted to a guy (as is a common theme among the GFY crowd). He totally just went balls-to-the-wall and I loved every second of it. Is it realistic? I’m guessing not, but I don’t care!

I read this book twice a month or two ago. On the second go round, I read the authors Afterword and found out that Stella Starling was also responsible for a collaboration with Wolf Specter called The Dragons Destiny-Fated Mates (as Angel Knots) and that made me love her even more since that is probably one of my top five favorite reads EVER. I’m pretty sure I gushed this all to her in an email (while probably pushing hard for audiobooks to be made, since that’s how I roll). I know I’m not the sole reason this book is now on Audible, but I am so. freaking. happy. Now I need to get her to release the Dragons Destiny series and I’ll be set for life!

Also, I had never heard of the narrator, but I was totally impressed! Good job, Mr. Warlow. I’ll be sure to tag him on my “good to download” list. I’m pretty sure Carter is meant to be a twink, but the voice Mr. Warlow used wasn’t OTT feminine like so many others end up being.

This book needed editing.

The plot is serviceable for a romance. However, the dialogue and prose needed a development and line editor. The book is missing several key scenes which could have brought out depth in the Cam character and a genuine conflict between the main characters. The villains in the book are grossly underdeveloped, and there are easy fixes that would have solved the problem. Instead, the plot turns on an unbelievable misunderstanding that frustrates the reader, breaks the natural flow of the story, and demonstrates this book was not ready to be published. The dialogue is cringe worthy in parts. Overall, it comes across like a second or third draft.

Reads like Fanfiction

The books is amazing, beautiful, and cliche. This adorable as fuck and I loved it. The smut scenes were hot too. It’s a Fanfic with OCs and that’s not a bed thing to me but I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it

what a book

I hated this book so much. I loved it just as equally though. absolute rollercoaster of emotions!! I found myself laughing, getting choked up, even screaming at the characters about how dense Carter really was sometimes (even Rip). That isn't easy to do to me either, I always found it hard to really get involved in books but this one really had me going. Thank you so much, worth the buy!

BEST FRIENDS BROTHER, SWEET AND STEAMY

Great book! Surprisingly, it was pretty steamy...more than what I was expecting.
And this book was oh so very sweet.
Carter is so shy and has been in love with his brother's best friend Rip for quite some time...his brother's STRAIGHT best friend. So when they end up participating in a game show to win the grand prize money for Carter's brother Cam, he is very hesitant because he knows this can only do bad things to his heart. When Rip takes the game far more seriously than Carter is expecting, Carter is caught off guard and so hopeful and unbelieving that this could really be happening! Rip is far more unconcerned with his revelations to his sexuality than would be expected. Its not longer just "Little C" that he sees. So ensues a sweet and steamy "fake" relationship that is not so fake at all. Luckily, when the tough parts happen that push them apart, we are not kept waiting for long. I loved how easy their relationship fell into place. If only reality game shows were like this for real...
&&then...the perfect ending! *swoon*

Sweet and fun

There were a bunch of ruminations, which I always find annoying, but all in all this book was fun to read. It was not the usual ho hum story and that was great. It was cute and made me smile and I recommend.
