So so good, and shows just how good the movie is too.

What a treat. Wil is the perfect person to narrate this. And it’s a great companion for fans of the movie. There are parts of the book that flesh out parts skipped or truncated in the movie, as expected, but there are also parts that were changed for the movie that actually work better in that. That so rarely happens with movie adaptations but this is a wonderful exception. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny.

Wil Wheaton crushed it in his performance in the film adaptation as a kid. And now he's crushed it as the narrator of this fantastic story.

Gripping

I started listening to this because I am a longtime fan of Wil Wheaton (and sorely miss “The Ready Room”). I quickly got caught up in the story and not only forgot who was reading it, but that it was all one person. What a wonderful merging of Stephen King‘s words and Wheaton‘s delivery.

Stunning and Well Done

Who Wheaton is absolutely the perfect narrator for the novella that became the movie Stand By Me.
He brings not only Birdie expertly back to life but captures the feel of both the time and complexity inherent in the story.

If you've seen Stand By Me, the narrative will pull the images to mind.
The only thing that could never be perfect, not due to lack by Wil, but due to expectations of the audience is the iconic "train"!!!! Will gives it everything., but just as Terry's pennies multiplied so do our memories of the scene.

Five stars all the way around for this snapshot in time.

Didn’t love this reading

We love this novella and looked forward to hearing this reading by Wheaton. Listening to it was problematic though— he frequently throws words away so we had the volume up. And then our ears would get blown out when he shouted or mimicked laughter. A better mix might have greatly improved this performance!
