Publisher's summary

Ella's life could not have been duller. She works, she breathes, and she follows the rules. But once she's swept off her feet by the mysterious and alluring Eireden, Ella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn as she becomes enmeshed in a deadly, magical game where lives and hidden kingdoms hang in the balance and where no one asks who she is. Instead they wonder what she is.

To be precise, she is bait.

Beautifully written, deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, The Feylands captures the struggle of a girl who is forced by fate into the hardest of choices: love or honor.

The Beginning of an Epic Fantasy

Where does The Feylands rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The beginning of an epic fantasy, in The Feylands we meet Ella, Gada, and Aric. Ella is a human (or is she) from modern day America. She is thrown into the into the world of the hidden lands after a series of events that bring her into the presence of the Gada (a Den) and Aric (a Fey), both of which find themselves inexplicitly drawn to Ella. They are constantly being dogged by danger as they travel, and the excitement just doesn't stop. Along the way, we even get to meet fairies and the always playful Whip-Whip; plus the loveably awkward dwarf, Furen. This is just the first book in the series and ends in a cliffhanger. You better bet I'll be ready book #2, ASAP!

Fred Wolinsky's narration was spot on. I'll admit that at first I was not sure about his style, but after the first fifteen minutes I couldn't imagine any other narrator. I hope they release book #2 on audiobook soon, with Wolinsky as the narrator of course!

So for all my fantasy loving friends out there, go get a copy of this one. It's definitely one you will want to add to your library.

I received this audiobook for free in return for my honest review.

This should be on the big screen!

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene where the dwarf and the fairy are introduced.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I wish I had that kind of time!

Any additional comments?

I am almost exclusively a true crime, biography, zombie fiction girl. I have never been into the fantasy genre but after just finishing The Feylands I am headed to get the next book in the series right now because I can't wait to continue this story. I listened to this story on Audible.com and I could imagine the action up on the big screen the entire time. Very rich and engaging characters. I look forward to looking into other works by Peter Meredith!

GAH! A cliffhanger!

What did you like best about this story?

I very much liked the loyalty of Whip-whip and Furon, going against the odds, and what should come naturally, to defend someone who was completely foreign to them, that they had only just met.

Have you listened to any of Fred Wolinsky’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard him before. I was frankly a bit surprised at the quite formal, and possibly slightly British accent, for a story taking place in an American location. Granted, it is an alternate world, but it is accessed through the US. To me, it seemed a voice one would expect to hear performing Shakespeare on a stage, rather than narrating this genre of book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself cheering aloud for Whip-whip on many occasions.

Awesome!

This is an amazing fantasy novel! It all starts with Ella, who has been raised by humans in the forbidden lands. Little does she know, but she has magic brewing inside of her. She meets two men from the hidden lands who convince her that she has some fey within her. This is where her journey begins as she is taken into the hidden lands. Is she fey or human? The book revolves around this question. It has a love triangle in the book, but not overly done. I don't like a lot of romance in my books and I still really enjoyed this one!

Fred does an awesome job with the narration! There were many times I felt like I was a part of the story while listening!

Humans, Fey, Dwarfs, Fairies and monsters....Oh My

Would you consider the audio edition of The Blood Lure to be better than the print version?

Not necessarily, but more convenient for those too busy to read.

Have you listened to any of Fred Wolinsky’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I have not

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My favorite parts of this book happened when I was able to picture myself in this land being describe. That and the small answers peppered to the mysteries through the the story.

Any additional comments?

continuing this book not that it was bad, just that it was so different than any other narration I have listened to. I am glad that I continued and that I became used to the reading.

From the first Ella became interesting to me being shrouded in mystery and inner strength. It is clear which characters are your favorite and their flaws only make them shine more. Gada the worrier and Aric the noble Fey are both so hard for me to like one over the other, that I can understand Ella's predicament. Furun the dwarf and Whip-wip the fairy are companions and friends I would want on my side. All of them together may seem a group of misfits, but I have a feeling such a combination and mix of race representation is an important feat.

My favorite parts of this book are the slow build up and slow revealing of mystery of the characters and their backgrounds. Also the way in which the Forbidden lands and the inhabitants are described. I was able to picture the creatures of the land in all of their beauty and/or terror. This made it easy for me to ride alongside Ella, Gada, Aric, Furen and Whip-wip and grasp the danger and awe of these parts of the Hidden Lands.

I was constantly looking for openings in my day to pick up the story where it left off, I just had to know what happened next and I when I felt that I was at the height of the story, it ended. No, there are still question I need answers to and theories I have that need proven or disproved! One question that was answered was that I must move to the second book.
