Wonderful, thoughtful science fiction

I love well-written shirt fiction and Kim Stanley Robinson always delivers. The varieties of subjects will satisfy most readers.

Short story collection

Kim Stanley Robinson’s ‘Best of’ is a collection of twenty-two short stories. Most focus on familiar Robinson themes such as environmental sustainability and social justice. There is a wide range of topics spanning the breadth of science fiction.

some amazing works

Like any anthology there is some variance here. some of these stories are simply amazing, while there are a few that are just out of place. it is worth reading, though, for the greatness.

A nice treat for Kim Stanley Robinson fans

Each one of these little stories has some theme or reverberation from one of KSR's longer works, and like those longer works, contain a lot of food for thought and a depth that means you can listen again and again and find something different each time.

I bought this just for the "Escape from Kathmandu" portion, and it is wonderful to hear it read by such a skillful narrator. The full book of four stories is KSR's funniest work, and ought to be an Audible book all on its own. However, all the stories are such little gems, and read with such feeling for the work that now I can't decide which one I like the best.

This narrator is my favorite of those KSR books I have listened to so far. I wish that Audible would get him to re-do the Climate in the Capital series, which is such a timely work, and would be well worth doing with a narrator who does justice to the emotional feel and depth of the work.

Stan really likes baseball

My son and I met Stan in Zurich where we were 3 of the 4 'auslanders' playing on a Swiss baseball team. Listening to his short stories I was tickled to see him write so fondly about the game that he even took the game to Mars. This was back in the mid 80s and so I recalled a story of his meeting Jimmy Carter on the mountain trails.
