Publisher's Summary

“Thursday morning. One hundred pounds overweight, no man in sight, and rounding the bend to 57 years old - a full-blown catastrophe.”

What happens when you realize you’ve had the career of your dreams, but you don’t have the life of your dreams? This was the stark reality facing Sheri Salata when she left her 20-year stint at The Oprah Winfrey Show, Harpo Studios, and the OWN network. She had dedicated decades to her dream job, and loved (almost) every minute of it, but had left the rest of her life gathering dust on the shelf. After years of telling other people’s makeover stories, Sheri decided to “produce” her own life transformation. And this meant revisiting her past, excavating its lessons, and boldly reimagining her future.

In this audiobook, she invites listeners along for the ride - detoxing in the desert, braving humiliation at Hollywood’s favorite fitness studio, grappling with losses, reinventing friendships, baring her soul in sex therapy, and more. Part cautionary tale, part middle-of-life rallying cry, Sheri’s stories offer profound inspiration for personal renewal.

Been searching for a book like this!

This book spoke directly to me in many ways. Career success. Navigating midlife and beyond. Power of mindset. Appreciation. Choices.

All served up by Sheri in such a joyful and powerful way. The stories are fabulous and the way they are delivered, make it all even better.

Thanks for the connection, tears and laughter!

You gotta LISTEN!! Spoke to my soul!

Wow. Hearing the story in Sheri’s voice really brought it home. I swear this entire story was the story of my life. The similarities were uncanny, and then I wondered, is it maybe that by the time we all reach “middle age”, we come to the same conclusions? It was so well spoken and touched on so many deep subjects. Thanks for saving me time in analyzing, Sheri!!! This would also be a great book for the younger set, to give them peace of mind that they aren’t alone and it’s all going to be ok!

The Beautiful No was simply beautiful. 💕

Satisfactory

It was encouraging but lacked something. The reading was monotone when I thought she could have been more animated. However, she owned her story. Kudos.

Beautiful Read

There was a lot in the book that I enjoyed but I will admit that I skipped some parts that seemed to not really go anywhere. I'm a dog lover myself but I was bored to tears when she went on and on about her dogs. I get it, you love them. I love mine too. But I don't expect other people to love them as much as I do or care for that matter. Anyway, overall I enjoyed the story but secretly wished there was more about working for Oprah and Harpo studios, that's what truly drew me in and kept me listening.

Read well, but not my cup of tea

I didn’t feel that this book had enough of what I thought it needed. There was really only one or two chapters that grabbed my attention and moved me. It wasn’t bad, and worth the time if you have some extra. It just wasn’t life changing.

Sheri’s The Beautiful No is a big YES!

Listening to this audio book is like spending a girls weekend with one of your best girlfriends. Sheri is a girls girl and so easy to relate to that now we are friends in my head. Relating to her and many of her stories is so easy. I especially enjoyed the audio book and can’t wait to check out her Pillar Life Podcast with Nancy. Oprah was lucky to have her as her wing women.

Familiar...

A very “Year of Yes”-esque book. Are Sonda and Sheri buddies? A book of generic life lessons from your gal pal laced with those personal stories where strength was all that could be done. Don’t start here for an inspirational book. It’s mostly rather fluffy with one heartbreaking exception; when Sheri tells the story of her brother’s unexpected passing. The vulnerability and emotions were in the room with me as I listened to this experience.

What?

I feel like these stories were thrown together willy-nilly. Why didn’t she follow a timeline? I kept thinking, “didn’t she already discuss this 3 chapters ago? And now she’s introducing it all over again?” Where’s the flow? How about a beginning, middle, end; and, maybe in this case, a new beginning? At least maintain the same tense throughout.
If you’re looking for a roadmap for self-transformation, I’d look elsewhere. Unless you have enough money to warrant giving your estate/house a name... (come on... who really does that??) her ideas are going to be too pricey for you.

Enlightened

I loved the book, it reminded me that I am normal whatever I go through other people go through I a not alone. It has encouraged me to be kind to myself, listen to my needs. I am on a spiritual journey however sometimes I experience speed bumps however after this book I am encouraged to press on. It also reminded me that life is too short, seeing beauty in everything.. and most of all everything happens for a reason..., I loved this book thank you Sheri🙏🏿

Terrible - hours I will never get back

I did not enjoy this book. It’s an ego trip for Sheri - it’s a book about how amazing she is and all the amazing things she’s achieved. If you don’t want to spend hours listening to her bragging about her life then skip it and buy a different book.

A beautiful thank you!

I am soon to turn the same age as Sheri was when she wrote this book (and also single, no kids) and after devouring the book in only two days (a record for me), I was telling my friends that I felt like she wrote the book for me. I felt like we were two girlfriends, catching up over a long cup of coffee and I was just listening as she told me her life story. I LOVED it. I related to so many moments (chapters actually), and yes, I’ll say it again - I loved it. The book was recommended to me by a friend. I concede it wouldn’t be a book for everyone, but what books are? I think a book finds you when you are ready to receive the messages it gives. I heard loud and clear. I was ready to read this book. A big beautiful thank you Sheri. You found a soul sister in me.
