Best of the Trilogy and a fine Ending
I very much enjoyed the first three books in the trilogy. This book, however beats the other two. The system of magic is quite intriguing and the characters are very well-defined. I also feel like the narrator was extremely good and played into the type of novel it is. I hope he writes more books because this trilogy shows that anything he writes will be something I want to read.

Great overall with a couple faults
The world, the magic, technology, and characters deserve praise for the most part. The commander in chief running about as a super commando is the only part I dislike. Tamas is at least two characters in one: the inspiring leader and the BAMF charging headlong into all situations pursuing his own ends. I think the story suffers because of this. This doesn't ruin the trilogy and I've already purchased all the available novellas and the short story collection. Mr. McClellan has created a better than average universe here and I recommend it.

Absolutely loved this series. It's one of those that leave you saddened when it ends. Narration was perfect. I really liked how he seemed to fully emerge himself into the story as he read.
I guarantee I'll listen to these again.

AMAZING
Loved this story. Characters were well rounded. Story line grabbed you and took you on an exciting journey from the first page.

Great story!
Unfortunately I listened to the Gods of Blood and Powder trilogy first, and then recently finished this trilogy. I would rather have listened to the Powder Mage trilogy first. It is fantastic story, well written and well paced. McClellan does an outstanding job fleshing out his characters with all his books and this one is no exception. Some of these characters reappear in the Gods of Blood and Powder series, which makes this trilogy even more compelling. A bit on the violent side, but in the context of the story, it works. The story is unpredictable, compelling, exciting, and builds to a great finish. Christian Rodska does an outstanding job narrating this trilogy. Most highly recommended!
